Okay, I followed the link from overclockers.com and had to register to chip in on this.
If you want something to try, get some potassium nitrate (aka saltpeter, the same stuff in gun powder) and mix it roughly 50/50 with sugar. You can just mix it up, or if you REALLY wanna do it right, carefully heat it to melt it into a more solid mass. Stick a few matches down into it with the heads up to light it.
Put the stuff on top of the chip and light away. I discovered it when looking up how to make a homemade smoke bomb. I put some of this stuff in a coke can and lit it. The can was melted in a matter of just a few seconds. It actually burned a small hole into the concrete the can was sitting on. Another time I had put it into a soup can (steel can). The can was glowing red hot and it actually burnt some holes into the side. I bet this stuff would do great. The reason it burns so hot is that sugar has a LOT of energy stored in it, and the potassium nitrate is an oxidizer so it gives it extra oxygen to burn faster and hotter.

Avatar, that name rings a bell.
What other forums do you post on apart from hardware and modding forums.

Hmmm, beyond hardware, I don't think I post in a whole lot. At least not anymore. I'm trying to remember where I might have posted in the past that's not hardware/modding related but I can't think of any at the moment off the top of my head. God I'm lame.
Oh, I have posted on some RPG related boards; enworld, wizards.com, et al. A couple of home theater ones, and a few various newsgroups. Haven't really done the NG thing lately. Need to get a decent reader. I had news pro, but it expired on me and I couldn't afford my unlimited leech acct at giganews (or was that newsfeeds?) anyways.

mix it with some kerocene or something similar and pack the paste into a tube with one end sealed. makes a nice rocket!

*shudder* I just had a nasty thought. Mixing that stuff with gasoline or alcohol either one. Not something I think I'd want to be in the vicinity for....

Well, it wouldn't be as bad as mixing LOX and gasoline, but potassium nitrate is a powerful oxidizer and is what gives gunpowder it's bang.

Gun powder (from memory) is 75% Sodium Nitrate (salt peter... however, Potassium Nitrate is just as good). 15% Sulphur and 10% carbon (could have those last 2 around the wrong way.... it's been a while since I've made it).
[H]arls... if you want some, drop me an email. I've got Potassium Nitrate, Sodium Nitrate and Sodium Nitrite (nitrite isn't quite as good as nitrate tho).
also, nitroglycerine is very easy to make... you just need to get your hands on some conc H2SO4 and conc (fuming) HNO3. I can't get this anymore, but if you get hold of some, I'll be glad to help you make it

That looks like lots of fun...brings back memories of explosions and mayhem...
As far as computer parts go, .22 hollow point bullets do a good job on Quantum Bigfoot hard drive platters...great for stress.
