Benchies would have been better against the 4600 - the 8500 is kidda showing tis age. Though tis was inetersting to see the 8500 edge out the 9700 @ lower res... is it a CPU bottleneck prob, i dunno - in situations like these u usually have complete neck to neck BM where the diff is purely experimentals errors. Strange.

Yep would've been better, but it's a different testbed to the other reviews, and for some reason I don't seem to have a 4600 just lying round

and yep, it is a CPU bottleneck which I was getting at:
"Please note that the system used will not be able to fully utilise the Radeon 9700. Results indicate comparitive performance and not the full capabilities of the card."

Q3 & SS are really starting to show their age, so will likely be left out in the not-to-distant future.

If I could be bothered I would redo my 9000 Pro Review, i've still got the card lying in a draw somewhere.
