Hi, my brother has a crusty old Core Solo T1300 (shoulda listened to you guys way back when lol) that I must replace if possible by the best compatible dual-core

Hes still overseas so I can't run CPUZ over it but I think its i945GM, definitely socket M Yonah.

Im pretty sure I can swap it straight for a T2xxx dualie, as they are the same family (but 31w vs 27w TDP), but anyone know if a Merom T5xxx can be used in these?

It physically fits but unsure about
A: Bios
B: Heat. Merom has 10-15w higher peak power dissipation and the die is 50% larger so maybe the heatsink doesnt cover it optimally.
The extra heat doesnt sound much but in a laptop with a pissy little cooler it could be significant Id guess.

Ive never pulled laptops apart before by the way but found a great guide to doing so.
