Howdy all,
After a couple of months of researching various components, chipsets and their performance I've finally figured out the main guts of the system I want to get... I mainly want to use it for gaming (don't we all? :)). I was wondering if people with a bit more experience with this sort of stuff than me (which includes basically everyone!) would mind commenting and/or giving advice on what I've tentatively selected?

I've given the price of each component in NZ$ as found by pricespy. What I'm basically after is people's opinions of what components might be better suited to the system for around the same price... thanks heaps in advance! :)

:) Soltek 75FRN2-L motherboard ($178.86)
:) Athlon XP2500+ OEM ($181.13)
:) 2 x 256MB DDR400 Twinmos RAM ($186)
:) Western Digital WD1200JB 120GB 7200RPM HDD ($253.81)

;) I already have a 3R System Air case with a 400w PSU...
;) And I should have already got my filthy little hands on a Radeon 9500pro second hand if all goes well...

So there you have it, what do you think?

I'd also love to recommend a decent cooling solution for the cpu, I've read so many faq's on cooling that I'm lost... :) Something for about $50ish max perhaps?

Cheers guys :)

Great system, only thing is that for about $10 more you could have got yourself an EPoX 8RDA+ nForce2 board which = sex for me :D

Looks good to me.Maybe just want to spend that few dollars extra for retail Barton.

I would just use the stock cooler that comes with the Barton.
