Hello.
I'm planning to watercool and overclock cpu.

I'm getting Barton XP 2500 and 512 min Ram (should I get 2x256).

What motherboard would you recommend for best results.

Thank you for your time and cooperation.

Hi Mate.

A bit of advice - that question has been asked a million times and answered just as many, this is hardly a new or exciting thread topic.

Click the search button up the top of the page next time.

btw from what i have been told water cooling is not the coolest option as far as temps
it does very well but the main reason is for sound i would say
if u want to get into really o/c there are better cooling options

This is just what i have been told so dont quote me on this
I have a cheapish heatsink cooling my XP1700 @ 2700 and its about 35degrees

So some heatsink cool down processor better than watercooling? hmmm.

What's best way to bring temp down without spending fortune?(around $200-300)

No. The 'better cooling options' are:

- vapour-cooling (refridgeration)
- liquid nitrogen

If you bought the best HSF money could buy ( and that'll set you back the best part of $200 NZD ), you'll still only just match a standard water-cooling system on performance.

....but it'll be REALLY loud.

Watercooling gives you high-end aircooling performance with low-end aircooling noise.

Refridgeration gives you even better performance - and isn't necissarily loud either. However, it's rather more dangerous than water/air cooling, and is a lot more difficult to set up.

Liquid nitrogen gives you the best performance possible ( OK, except for liquid hydrogen :p :p shuddup ). It also doesn't have to be loud. BUT - it'll cost you TONS. ( probably $100's per week just to cool your machine )

how much would either of those cost?

Are there kits, or I have to put them together by myself. I was gonnna get Water cooling kit from crazypc.com

btw. if not looking at the money (which I find in every thread about mobo), what would be the best motherboard right now for overclocking?

There is only one kit I know of for vapour cooling. It comes in a case and costs over $1000 NZD.

Liquid nitrogen would cost less to set up - but the running costs would be HUGE.

Seriously, don't even bother asking. Honestly Extreme, why'd you even bring that up? :p

Not so sure Whetu - for example the Abit NF7 temps are completely stupid. The last bios edition 'lowered' them by at least 10*C - as ya do ;)

Heres mine in a 25*C room after 96 hours 100% load. Alpha pal8045 with stealth. Haven't seen it get this warm before - it normally sits around 28*C in a cold room...

*As for the cases Id go for the NZOC store Though some there prices are rip off when u compare it to pricespy no offense, not all is rip off,I like the fans thermal grease etc and other stuff. :D

Do your Homework here http://Google.co.nz or
http://pricespy.co.nz

As For HFS
Go with..
Thermalight 800 SLK ultra if you can find one or 900 SLK ultra if it fits on The mboard,The 700 SLK ultra is pretty good but get the 800 if u can!
*warning Do not Force the 900 SLK HSF on the mboard it my damage it!*

Hope thats all...

If by NZOC you mean OCNZ, there's a reason for their prices being higher - they supply the retailers you quote as being cheaper ;) There's really no point as a supplier/retailer in being competitive with those who buy off you, and in a way it makes more business (as people say "oh screw ocnz i'll buy from styles!" when ultimately they are buying from ocnz anyway)

ya follow?
