Ok we have an old tv in the flat and are wanting a DVD player. The tv has one set of RCA inputs but at the moment they are used by the SKY (non-digital) decoder. I know I could get a bung VCR and run everything thru that but was wondering whether you could run two devices thru the one set of RCA inputs? Also, whether you could get the plugs to convert from one set of inputs to two. I have had a look on Dicksmiths and Jaycar but have so far been unable to find anything. This is why I am wondering whether it can be done.

Thanks in advance.

Actually I don't think the DVD player will work through a VCR anyway due to macrovision encoding.

You may be able to run both through the same composite input simultaneously but one device will have to be switched off whenever you want to use the other one and you are very very likely to even still get some signal degredation.

What you want to do is just pop over to jaycar or DSE and grab a $25 video switch box of some kind.

jaycar have a nice 3 way switch for about $30 which would suit your needs nicely, I have one and it works well (gold plated plugs and all)

you don't want to put the two outputs on at the same time because your impedance will get out of whack and give you a bad picture (ie ghosting, incorrect color saturation etc)

a switch is the wtg!
