Also, i was after 1GB DDR400 Dual channel RAM, can anyone reccomened some good RAM preferably in aucks thats not to pricey?

Umm i got a ThermalTake Volcano 9, and 2 case fans atm 1 at the front and 1 at the back, also I was wondering what the story is with Dual Channel RAM. Do you have to buy "dual channel ram" or is it just the slot on the motherboard that makes it dual channel?

"dual channel" is a technology that is implimented into some motherboards such as those based on the nForce2 chipset.

memory manufacturers have twisted it to their advantage as a marketing gimmick where they slap two identical sticks in a cute package, put "dual channel" on that package, crank the price up and then some, and laugh all the way to the bank.

That's the cynical version...

apparently they go to the bother of testing the sticks for dual channel operation. If the sticks pass the tests, they then get packaged, labelled, price cranked and then the laughing to the bank happens.

Basically if you buy two exact sticks at the same time, say a pair of Mushkin Blue 256's, chances are they are from exactly the same batch and will work fine in dual channel mode, and you'll save some pingas at the same time... pingas that could be put towards valuable things such as a 3 piece 1/4 pack from KFC (mmmmm)

Well QMB's ram is a bit expensive compare to others... btw I would choose Twinmos Dual Channel kit or Samsung PC3200

Whetu posted above that dual channel RAM kits were just a higher price for no more performance :?
