hi there i am just thinking if i should upgrade from 256 to 1024 ram or get upgrade my cpu and mobo to intel.
both upgrades would cost around the $800 mark

256MB RAM is not enough thesedays, 512 is recomended.

tell us all your specs, and we'll tell you what to do with your money to get the best performance out of it.

If you upgrade to Intel, you may have to upgrade your RAM anyway.

Amd athlon xp 2600+
256 ddr ram (dont know what speed)
dont know the type of mobo
128mb nvidia graphics card

I'd keep your current CPU, check what motherboard you have maybe upgrade that if you want to spend money. Then up your RAM, because mor RAM is always good.
