Anyone know of any proggies to enable bandwidth throttlling either by IP or MAC address or some such?

I have had a quick look around the interweb at lunch and didnt see anything of any use. I assume i need a proxy of some desription and QoS?

Cheers
Dan

if u had a spare box lying around stick linux on it - would be the most effctive way of doing so (using token buckets HTB filters) - look up advanced traffic shaping HOWTO in the linux documentation project.

there should however be windoze progs to do the same sorta stuff. but from my exp i havent come across any that is as good.

If you have Windows 2000 Server you can install the routing service anc configure the machine to act as a proxy / gateway..

Alternatively as mentioned use Linux. Atomic magazine had a series of how to articles detailing how to do this.. Somebody probably has the mag's.

if you just want to limit bandwidth on one computer try netlimiter (www.netlimiter.com)
