Hmm, and the fact that not many people orrrrr companies in New Zealand actually think about the future. Telecom is obviously one of these.
It's the same with Aucklands roads, there is sooooo much congestion - what the hell were the planners thinking?! What were they smoking? Cos' dat must be da good sh*t bro........ :p

I doubt our countrie would ever do that as we wouldnt have the money to pay for that kind of connection. US do it because they are massive captalist countrie.

They do can do it because most of their traffic, like Korea's is National, where as most of New Zealands trafic is International.
I just wish they mentioned prices/plans. I wonder if it's unlimited?

They can do it because for the last 10 years there has been a battle between the telco's for what is called 'the last mile'.
The last mile refers to the loop between the exchange and the house. Whoever controls that gets the market. That is, they get to dictate the set-top boxes and the content provided. Everyone pays them to carry their content.
Here in new zealand, that battle has not yet really begun. The last mile is still copper, which restricts the amount and type of content and services that can be offered.
If we had true competition between the content providers - at the moment we really just have sky. Then there would be compitition in upgrading the last mile to handle the services that would be marketed.. In this we would get better bandwidth.
At the moment our network is still at the infant stage. So we have a long while to wait until there is demand for more content.
