I was considering this board, but then the EPoX got my attention...ABIT is just too expensive for me (budget system = sexo!)

Whats it like for OC'ing? Anyone care to say whether this is better/worse/the same as the EPoX 333 boards?

I bought this pretty much for the XP diode temp sensor :D
I oveclock only when its required - so right now O/c wise i'm not interested... that said good to see your O/c trails gly.

-Kingmax PC3300 256x2
-Maxtor 60GB ATA133 7200rpm

well, i'll be able to give you guys some comparisons between the DRV5 and the DRV4, coz mine should be arriving next week....now i just need the cash for the rest of hte components.......

don't think their is a much diff when running mem @ 166
1~2% ain't it?

I wouldn't mind putting my Abit KR7A-RAID in the running.

Even with my RAM holding me back ( Crucial PC2100 ), I can make an easy 175MHz fsb. 180 works so, but the RAM's going soft by then... :p :D

 GO TEH ABIT!!

no no no you Philistine!
not overclocking......it'll be a comparison between the 333Mhx FSB and the 266Mhz FSB, because essentially thts the only difference....

but erm... you'd be OC'ing a 266MHz FSB to operate at 333MHz FSB, wouldn't you? :p

*talks to a brick wall*
the difference between the KT266A and KT333 northbridges is the support of 333Mhz DDR is it not? but i spose you OCers could see what affect the 333Mhz FSB would have on performance as well...

binky i'm afraid in this forum if you say "I dont overclock", you're always going to be talking to a brick wall. some of us just dont understand the concept of "not overclocking". :p :D

asyncronous memory is just not cool, man.

If you have Asynchronous mode on - CPU @ 133Mhz and teh RAM @ 166MHz this can actually lead to a decrease in performance.

Go teh Epox! 215MHz FSB in some reviews. But of course it will depend on the stepping of your CPU - you will want an XP with AGOGA stepping.

Either that or check out my sig.... ;)

ive got a AGOGA... ill have to unlock my cpu to get that high a fsb ahh??

but i wont ever get that high coz the fsb dividers dont go about 1/5 on the soltek right???

Well 215/5 = 43MHz PCI clock.

So if you have decent PCI cards and hard drives (NOT IBM) that can handle a high PCI clock you should be OK - of course it will depend on the RAM you are using aswell.......

But if your AGOGA was unlocked you could feasibly achieve something like: 215 x 8 = 1720Mhz or 215 x 8.5 = 1827MHz.

Maybe higher....... The 8K3A+ allows CPU Vcore of up to 2.2 volts. Although I wouldn't recommend going over 2 Volts.

i have Samsung TCB3 ram.
and a Maxtor ata133 40GB drive

dammit i also have a IBM DTLA drive (30GB ata100 7200rpm)
and my Network card gives up at 38mhz

no wonder i cant get my 158mhz stable anymore... put my IBM in there :(

Humantuckshop

Yep that IBM will be the problem - mine can't handle the PCI clock going higher than 38MHz. But that's the one of the very few good things about my XP333 - the 1/5 and 1/6 dividers.

That Samsung RAM is the sh*t tho.

i didnt even no what i was getting when i bought my parts,
wasnt gonna OC my comp... 1.47Ghz would be sweet :)

got home found OCNZ,
realised that i had been given all the good OC'c parts :D

might get a new mobo, not fussed at the moment thou...
coz i have to upgrade this dam GF2mx (original)
arggg, wat a bottle neck!

once ive sold my spare PC paid my olds the $$ i owe them...
ill get me a GF4 ti4200 :)
or may just a GF4mx460/440? (cant afford much being a student and all)
anythings better than my MX!!

That's an interesting thought about IBM DTLA drives and high PCI clock.

My old DTLA (now with N) can operate flawlessly with PCI clock @ 41MHz. In fact, nearly all of the HDs that I had can do PCI clock > 40 MHz. The Maxtor D60+ can even do 50MHz with DMA on. However, I've not run that HD for a prolonged period.

yep still using it,

i was able to run it stable at 42MHz PCI, so don't think the IBM is a problem,
