i recently got a thermal take volcano 11 xaser edition
and i was thinking of running it in conjunction with a peltier to give a little bit extra cooling have been looking through google and the articles there werent very informant they more or less
gave the bad side of the use of peltiers

also i did check the faq's in the sticky that whetu did on cooling
and couldnt find mention of peltiers there

my cpu is currently clocked at 1930mhz running at 30-31 idle
and 32-38 under load (with heatsink fan at 3629 - 4687 rpm)
would ultimately like to run alot cooler than this

ok heres the stats on my pc relating to the cooling issue on my pc

volcano 11 xaser edition
Asus A7N8X-X
Athlon 2000xp @ 1930mhz @ 11X multi / 175FSB
X2 80mm case fans

Why do you want it to run "alot cooler"? Hell those temps are pretty damn good.
If you truly DO want much cooler- you're gonna have to go Phase Change I'd say. Peltier cooling would be more hassle than its worth

whoops thought so the thread got moved to newbies fair enough

ok with phase change im not familiar with infact never heard of it

but yeah ok it sounds like a hassle to do

might think of some other things for additional cooling as i dont want to run the volcano at full revs cos it can be heard up in the lounge

with a peliter and that heatsink and that cpu, you will only make things worse,

peltiers are good to use on GPU's, :)

if you wan't peltier cooling, you will need water cooling at least.

If you wanna run cooler, just set up a water cooling system.

ive been nosin through the threads and saw a couple of things
under cooling and a pic on one of the case modding threads
one was of a cardboard duct from back of case to hsf and the other was of proper ducting tube mounted the same way as the cardboard one might look into that a little bit further

currently running 38 celcius with seti@home running

well, here is my case,
with the cold air intake, the CPU temp is about 3° less than if I had no side on the case, and anywhere between 5-10°C less than if I did have the side on with no air intake.
I have 4 80mm fan intakes, and 2 80mm fan outtakes and the PSU has 2 80mm fans which blow outwards too.

This sort of cooling is the best I've had so far, and I've tried many different ways,
IMO it's still not good, and I plan to improve on it, but the basic idea is there and it's working fine.
