I've got a dsl connection through a dse router and I'm wondering if it is possible to use the dsl and a dialup connection at the same time. Like so I could leech with the dsl connection and browse with dialup or something like that.

If this is possible how would you do it?

Plug you modem into the phone line like you would a normal phone and use it normally. There's no trick to it. The fact that the modem will be going through a filter, will slightly deminish it's performance, but I don't know by how much. Maybe connection speeds of 40-46k would be normal instead of 46-52k.

yeah... i can use the dialup connection, but I want to use both connections at the same time... when I connect to dialup that connection is like the primary connection. What I want to do is use dialup to browse while the dsl is being used for dc or something...

I haven't done it before but I don't see any problem. Your router is on a TCP/IP network with it's own IP address and you modem is on a separate TCP/IP network with it's own IP address.

Same as a home network, and one of the computers has a modem and connects to the internet. You won't even need a gate to share the internet with other computers.

You see every NIC or Modem gets it's own unique IP address.

the only thing you will have to do or problem I see is IE will only want one connection, so give it your modem, and use a different app like DC++ to leech and download on the different IP address.

Try it and see.

What about the multilink function built into windows? Do you have two accounts that you can log in with? ie Dialup and adsl

why not use an ap like netlimiter ???

then you dont tie up the phone line ,can still surf at a resnobal speed and the downloads dont have to be cancaled

imdying, yeah I have a dialup and dsl account.

using the multilink function, I think thats what I'm trying to do. I have tried starting a download using the dsl connection, and then connecting with dialup aswell, but then the download just stops...

the dialup connection like takes over, I want to use one connection for some thing and the other one for other things... if it is possible =)

Your ISP must support multilink for this to work. Ring them up and ask.
