Painting cases

Well, I have to replace my light now, I shattered the glass on the crappy warehouse one when I took it out to cut the deathchimney hole.

Now my little beast looks barely anything like its original form, just perfect :)

I have cut the 120mm holes out of top and bottom, and an additional one out the back just for any air overflow.

My case temp sits on 19 most of the time, and the CPU temp hasnt really changed much, but it takes less than a minute for it (and heatsink) to drop 10+ degrees :D

Anyway, my ACTUAL reason for this post : what colour? I have painted the bits I want to be yellow, sunshine yellow (still to recoat some when i can afford more paint :rolleyes:

The options to me are : Aubergine (deep purpleish), Black (yeah yeah, common as shizer but the psu looks good without me painting the fan fins on that too), and BRIGHT BURNING RED!

If I get red, I will need to get a cold cathode red light of course, if I go black, I dont know what colour to get, and purple...well that will just confuse me, and I will just keep the purple light (semi-repaired now) in there.

go with red, black requires a lot of work to get right.. and every little scratch and stuff up will stick out like dogs balls... avoid purple at all costs... red will go with the purplish neon...

so yeah... RED... it will also bring out angry violent tendencies in you and perhaps balance your queerness.. i mean... nice outlook on life :D

Yeah, I'm leaning towards red, esp seeing as that means a cold cathode ;)

And also everyone else seems to like BLUE, and I'm keen on steering away from that.

How would sunshine yellow go with a red neon?

the red case would look cool, but the red cold cathodes actually light up pink.. I dont like em too much.. I think JB can still get the UV cold cathodes, they are about $10 - 15 more than the standard ones i think :D

Well ... Colour is a hard thing to chose. I mean you have to pick something that you like but all the while considering what everyone else will think. That is, after all, the reason we mod, to impress our peers.

My only suggestion is that you consider texture as well! Red is all good and so is black, green, purple, whatever ... But Snake Skin iz the shiz!

MrThc is right about the Red Cold Cathodes they do glow pink so if you go Red for the Cold cathode you may as well go for purple paint and think about some fluff.

But seriously have you thought about something like a custom mural? I mean why do case mods have to be just a colour? Notice all of the best mods are (for example) the Leggo mod or the Glass case etc... these are original ideas done well. Spend the time, come up with something original hell spend the money if you need to. My advice is to make a case that is uniquely you.

Hand up those who Don'T have cold cathode, a window kit, black paint, LCD's, a bay bus ... You get what I'm saying?

i could have easily got my case spraypainted.. i've been living with one of my spraypainter uncles these last couple of weeks.. and he's done a few odd jobs for me.... but i was looking at the case mod community and was seeing the same boring things... spraypainted cases, rheos, lcd's etc and while these are fine and dandy.. they are just becoming too cliche... so i dared to be different

Ohhh reflective :) That's a good effect... a shame I can't do it ... oh well ... mine will be spray painted with decals, when I get round to it!

Nah it doesn't..... coz of my poor 250watt PSU..... still haven't up graded it yet :( it only lights up about half the bottom of my case :(
