I don't 'get' this thread.

XP is stable. I get about a crash a month. Oh, and I haven't had any crashes that are XP's fault yet.... NONE, that is....

So you can't make a file, and you're an admin. What, you think admin makes you god? Dude - there are dozens of reasons why you may not be able to do things like that as an admin. For example, you can't overwrite an existing file that another process has a write lock on.

Well I knew you'd be an anal sooner or later, ahh you spoil everybodys fun... hehe :p

Actually that it my own personal folder I'm writing that file to (obviously) and there is no write protection on or anything, so by all means it should have worked (however I know what caused that error now :D).

I was just pointing out that I am trying to extract a file to my own user folder and that I am admin, and a rather silly error that really shouldn't happen to an admin and putting aside all technical crap (yeah I know it can happen for a million other reasons but it's supposed to just be dumb for goodness sake :p)

There's nothing wrong with the error. It could be something as simple as the file being detected as containing invalid code ( for its MIME type ) and being blocked ( if your kernal was set up to block that ) etc etc etc - the reason go on and on.

What IS wrong is the error message - which doesn't explain WHY you can't do that. Now that is a usability error ;).

But then, the interfaces of most software are behind the curve, so there's little use b*tching about it.....

BTW, if you want to laugh at MS ( all these were probably posted on the old forum, but meh! You know.... ):
