View Full Version : I just popped my Linux Cherry.
Wow, i am quite impressed with how Linux (RH9) has come along. The last time i loaded it was RH6 and that sucked ass, now it is as someone mentioned similiar to XP / M$ windows. I couple of little things to learn about mounting etc but i like it already!
Now i have my XP Pro and RH9 puters running nice and smooth!

you should try some other distro's.. like mandrake or even knoppix. Redhat is still a bit behind with some of the stuff the other distro's have.

was just trying mandrake 9.1(bamboo) and am safe to say, in my view, it completely sucked ass, and has put me off linux, although later on i will give another distro a try i think.

Redhat are pretty anal about only including strenuosly tested software these days. If it doesn't work they don't include it in official releases, and they tend to be a bit behind on including the latest versions (e.g RH9 ships with Mozilla 1.2.1, 1.3 had been final for sometime before it was released) They also avoid having non-gpl software in their distro this is why it ships without MP3 support (easy eough to add)
I am now using windows less and less since installing RH9 (in fact only for BF1942 and C&C generals at the moment)
