I gots me a prob with me mouse....
Its an A4 Tech 5 button, dual scroll, optical beast....
problem is i get random lockups ie no muse movement.
It doesnt lock up the computer at all, i just cant use the mouse.
I checked to make sure it was pluged in properly, it was, took the bastard apart and gave it a clean (and thought of putting in a blue LED) but still happens. Even checked for viruses, but non to be found....
I'm running XP Pro if it helps.....and i dont think (hope it aint) the mouse giving out, as i'm not the only one with the problem. *crosses fingers*
HEEEEEEEEEEELP :)

I'd say your prob is that you have a crap mouse.
Does the cursor disappear.
Drivers?
Try a different mouse, is your FSB too high so that the USB craps out?

Oh no, did you just say the word mouse. ;)
Have you tried plugging it into different ports, USB, ps/2.

The cursor dont disappear, just stays on one spot on the screen. it aint USB so it cant be the FSB, its only just started within the last week.....and i've had the FSB @ 145 for ages...
Just installed the A4 Tech drivers, gotta reboot first.

sounds to me like the cord at the mouse end is starting to go gammy.. try wiggling it in different directions while moving the mouse to see if you get any action going....

Hey man, don't knock teh almighty Telesplicer! :p
I used a couple to hook up my Sunon 120mm fan and I'm using one so I can monitor my 7K Delta's RPM, while I run it off the 12V leg of a drive cable.
PsYcHo: Buy a new mouse. Problem solved. ;)

What mouse pad are you using?
Believe it or not, all those advertising claims of 'works on any surface' are BS.  Yes - that's right, MS and those other optical manufacturer's may have bent the truth a little.
There, there - it's OK, I know, I know....
*consoles all the weeping Optical users*
try a different surface. ESPECIALLY if the surface you're using has writing, or other high contrast lines on it ( calendar, etc ). These patterns often cause opticals to screw up royally.
Just a thought.... seen it before..... several times.....

They're called Telesplicers. But they are only for your standard phone cable - not for CAT5 network cable......
Apparently tho, as whetu's dad found out they can fix mice cords aswell. :p

it'd just be tidier to resolder it... however if you open your mouse up and you are able to remove the cable by way of a connector on the mouses' internal pcb.. then you could possibly just reterminate the connector...

yeah i noticed the connection to the mouse PCB was under strain so i straightened it up, and stuff more cable into the shell. Hasnt played up since :D
