View Full Version : Christchurch case modding...
I was thinking about playing around modding up my case a bit, but was a bit doubious about cutting into the case.. So I was wondering where (in chch) you go to get it done cleanly and how much it costs?

http://www.stylespc.com does it and AFAIK he's the only one. at the moment the "chop shop" portion of the website is still under construction so i'm not sure what prices are but i think the price for 120mm blow hole cutting was around $20 when the old site was up.
only way to find out would be to email him i guess.

if ur just after a clean cut hole in the side of ur case,
there is an engineering shop over the road from the polytech in town,
called HiTech, i think they have a laser cutter that would cut a mint hole.
im putting a window in 1 of my cases,
im just using a jigsaw to cut the hole an a smooth file to clean it up, but if ur after intricate holes or patterns best get it laser cut.

Do it yourself. Its not all that hard and you'll feel a lot better than if you where to pay someone to do it for you.
The cutting of the metal is pretty easy, its just tidying up the rough edges afterwards is a pain.
If youre going to DIY then hire / borrow a deburring tool to get rid of those rough edges.
