I just bought one and its got one hole in the front for a 120 mm fan instead of 4x 80mm ones. I reckon thats way better.:D Its also got golds fan grills on the psu, built in mobo stand offs and the speaker right under the hard drives has been replaced with a really small one.

cos everyone knows that gold finger guards make all the difference ;)

what voltage is the 120mm running at? 5v? is the metal still flimsy?

Hell yeah!:D

The fan isn't even going at the mo because it needs a finger guard otherwise the power button/LED cables get stuck in it.

Its an icute 627SL S8 (see pic). I got it from www.djcomputers.co.nz for $116 with 320 watt PSU and an 120mm fan included.

yeah, i have one of these, this is the new shipment that arrived wednesday last week i think.....
currently getting 41 degrees as opposed to 48 as i had with my old case.....but i've got a 80mm outtake fan too, sitting right beside the Dragon Orb 3 :D
air go in, air go out :p

now i just need a V7+, Vantec stealth, and a spray paint to spray my floppy and CD drive.....

max

yeah thats annoying with getting drives to match and if you try to spray your biege ones they never match properly.

bah, just spray paint the lot, drive, case and while your at it why not keyboard, monitor, mouse, desk, walls.....

[edit] Almost forgot to showoff:
My case has a matching drive cover for that very reason

hmmmm, my 120mm fan is making funny noises....squealing and rattling...... next time i open 'er up i'll try and tighten some screws.....or maybe replace it with a Sunon 120mm...

Lube the fan binky, see if that helps :)

CRC do the job?

Hans

get some grease not CRC. CRC tends to dry out shortly which won't do you any good. In fact, those spray type of lube won't do any good in this situation.

CRC works in a pinch, but only use it for the short term, something u NEED to get going right away.
Get some sewing machine oil.
Works wonders :)
CRC brought my NB fan back to life, and kept it working for several months, was still going when i sent the board back.
But yeh.
Sewing machine oil, its cheap, as does the job well :)

WD40 is good too... cheap as and doesn't attract dust like CRC tends to. silicon based lubricant is the best spray lubricant i've found, but like Hans says grease is the best for long term (vaseline does the job).

i think i just fixed it....
the USB header cable was rubbing against the motor casing, so i've moved and bend the cable.
Shouldnt be a problem any more, but just something to note about them......pretty much their only fault realy...

max - is that a type 1, or a type 2 Icute case?

Binky Stunt Cat
06-07-2002, 02:10 AM
its neither..... Type "3" if you will....
Type I has 4 80mm fan slots, II has 2, whereas this one has the big 120mm fan pre installed...

max

yeah binky is right.
its not on their website either.

2 much thinking
08-07-2002, 06:23 PM
woo hoo, i get to join the 'type 3 icute club' also  :)

can't beat them for the price and yes the airflow is quite good. I was getting about 48-50 C in my crappy genius mars thing ( evil vertical PSU) and now with the icute im getting 35-37 :D & my hard drive is so much cooler now also with that big moma fan. it's supprisingly quiet, even at 12V

hehe, i had the same thing. nothing the twist ties on the power cables couldn't fix

I gotta get a new case to replace my flat case and Icute look good for the price but 120mm fan! Isn't that gonna be really noisy?
I wont have a hot system so maybe I could get a generic case with just PSU fan or something. Id like an Icute for sure but that big fan, it must be noisy as anything!

Cos my 250w case has just a psu fan and an 8cfm p2 fan ;) , oh and my mx440 fan, and Im hoping that my tualatin celeron upgrade will be just as quiet.

I dont need 320w(ICute) for a Tualatin but I wanna keep the case for ages so 320w yeh lookin long term.

So erm.. . how about those ICute PSU fans and that big 120mm fan noisewise?

Antallica

They are a bit quieter I think, seeing as they run at slower rpm's yet pushing heaps more air than an 80mm. Correct me if I'm wrong guys :).

i think the PSU fans are currently the noisiest in my case....but the only fans i've added are the Vantec Stealth, and the V7+ standard at Low setting  so i guess it dont count for much......
but seriously, my case gets drowned out by Sydog's one easily......but thats probably due to the extra fans and the Alpha more than anything else....
