tell me if this is a interesting idea.

look up people that live in your area, and who have lots of interesting files that you would like to leech.

arange a time for you to take your computer over to their house (or your house) spend a few house leaching, and there you have rens more of gigs of cool stuff!

beats waiting around for lans..

that would be kinda gay i think

a better idea is
1. to move to chch(dont do this step if your in chch)
2. get wlan card + extras
3. join the chch wlan community :)

You haven't been going around to friends places with hard-drives for years already cos that's the fastest way to copy Linux ISO's?

Dude, if all it was was a pipe that meant you could copy a lot of data across it, then yeah - LANs would suck....

...Or you could organise bi-weekly lans.
Works for me. :D

in the upper north island at least there are lans every 2 weeks, if not more often. I still have linux iso's to "install" from L3 14, so the thing to do is just stock up while you're there.

Well in Auckland theres weekly lans, but then you've got to shell out $10 petrol to get out wherever, $50 for food, $10 for energy drinks, $10 entry fee, and $50 for cds.

Plus the next day your wasted from not having enough sleep!

I'm interested in meeting up with some1, spendning a few houes tradeAhem i mean gaming, and then on ya way.

If any1s interested, pm me. I live in Mt Eden Auckland.

True about being wasted - but I've never spent that much money at a LAN . Do you go to a restaurant for every meal?

For me it's normally more like:

$10 petrol, $20 food, $5 drinks, $20 entry fee, $5 CD's

( I don't burn much - I honestly don't see why you would sit there and burn 50 CD's in a row when some prime gaming is going on )

....only I don't always have to pay entry fee's, and occasionally don't burn ANY CD's - so the cost is actually a bit lower than that.

And how are you going to have Epic LAN Games (tm) with only the two of you

the $50 for food is for a four day lan....

well thats why you should do leeching before going to lans, so you have more time to spend gamig and not tracking downfiles that you need.
my usual cd consumage is about 30-40.

Grrr!!

You are not honestly telling me you've never done this before .

Anyway; there is only a certain amount of leechate that one can handle. You're not telling me you are finished watching/playing/listening/etc to each of your linux isos before the next leech session (for me typically a few days).

I don't know any1 IRL that has anything worth leeching.

I only got into the lan scene in april, and so no, in response to the hampster, i havn't done any 1on1 leeching, because i don't know any people worth leeching off...
