Ok my system specs are

AMD 2400+
2 x 512Mb Twinmos 2700 Ram
Leadtek Nforce2 Mobo
Leadtek Gforce4 Ti4200 64Mb
Sound Blaster Audigy
+ HDD CDS etc etc.
And will have 9800Pro Soon :D

Basically i just want to know a few things.

Like u always hear about running the memory in sync and stuff and just wanna know what that means ? and how something like that would effect my system. I have had a look around places and cant find anything on it.

Also i Tried overclocking awhile ago and i tried pumping the FSB up just to test it and at wouldnt even boot up at 1mhz over the normal 133mhz. So what does that mean ? something to do with the memory timings or something ?.

So basically i want to know what are the things i can do to make sure my computer is running at its optimized best :D

Thanx heaps in advance :D

running memory is sync is running it at the same speed as the FSB, ie. 133mhz fsb and have 133mhz memory.

What model is the board? my flatmate has the k7ncr18-g pro running sweet at 166mhz with a amd2000.

and what timings are you attemping to run the ram at?

Mobo is a K7NCR18D-Pro..

and having 133mhz memory ?

When i boot up the computer it says the ram is running at 333mhz...

Just restarted to see the bios...

CPU Interface : Optimal
Memory Freq: By SPD
Memory Timings : Aggressive. 7,3,3 CAS 2.5

It also gives me the options

Turbo: 6,2,2 CAS 2.5

Optimal 7,3,3 CAS 2.5

Also can change it manually and stuff

to run the FSB higher try it with the 'Optimal setting (2.5 3 3 7), this means the latencys are higher so the ram is less stressed, so the FSB can get higher

e.g. with 2-3-3-7 my ram can run upto 195mhz, but with 2.5-4-4-8 it can run at about 220mhz.

the reason it says the ram is running at 333.
you have pc2700 ram which means it runs at 166fsb double pumped.
you are running ram at spd which the ram says is 166.
now running the ram at 166 is a waste when the fsb is at 133.
you could set it to 100% and then select turbo.(100% x fsb=133. or 266 =pc 2100)
when the ram is at 133 the timings should be able to go to cas 2, 5,2,2 but then again why not unlock your cpu and run it at 166 as well as the ram?
