ok im new to all this LCD stuff.

ive figured out i need to connect it thru parallel or serial port but seems to be parallel is better/easier.

so am in right in thinking i need the lCD screen itself and also some kind of controller to go with it??

when people say 2x20, 4x20 and 4x40 i assume they mean the size of the screen. is that it dots or what?

im looking to use this for a mp3 player so needs to be bigger enuf to have song titles etc and hopefully equalizer pattern too.

thanks

2x20 is too small

4x20 would do the job.

download LCD smartie (google), and just play around with it, its shows what the LCD would be displaying in a little window on your screen. Try the different screen sizes till you get one that displays what you wants and then go for that size :)

thanks man thats answered heaps of my questions.

where could i get a 4x40 LCD and controller? i rather get that size unless its really expensive.

edit: seems like 4x40 LCD is gonna be too expensive. so where is a good place to get a 2x40 LCD and controller?any places in auckland?

has any1 managed to get winamp visualizations like things on an LCD module? it seems it can be done but cant find out the program to use.

yeah JALCD seems to be one of the best. well this is cause im only using for playing mp3's so just wanted the visualisations etc.

doesnt have output to normal screen tho which is annoying cause i cant see the layout of it b4 i buy the lcd.

so are there any good places to buy lcd's in auckland?or am i better to buy thru PMB?
