Because KJ is too lazy (orrrrr busy) I will post his awesomely constructed graph from the old forum.
Note: The specs listed are Nvidia's design specifications - if every card makers specs were added the table would be over 20 times the size.

I'm not posting it cos it'll go into a video card FAQ like Hans had on the old forums.

Also, not to be mean - but that's a really old version, even the old forums had a newer version than that. That one hardly has any of the GeForce4 cards listed.... :p

Really - you posted a newer one than that?

I saved that one a couple of days before the old forum died....

Lol - crazy. Even the current version is old ( it's only got one Ti4200 version listed ).

...I'll have to work something out.

It's still good for Silver tho - it's got all his TNT2 M64 specs there..... :p

Just swapped it out for the Tnt2 Vanilla i had lying around.
Just haxed a heatsink for it....
M64's one was glued down
Helluva lot nicer than the M64 :D

Thought it was old, that gf4 ti4400 is wrong isn't it, my gf4 ti4200 is 276/551 and I think the 4400 is 275/550.

There is more than one Ti4200 version tho - don't worry KJ will sort it out. :D

Yeah - all that was sorted out on release date.....

*looks around the crowd*

Hmmm - so WHERE exactly is old Hans?

Might have to make the video-card FAQ another holiday project.... ;)

What exactly are the NORMAL specs for the GF4 Ti4200?

My friend got his mem up to 630, so trying to see if this is good or average.

From what I've read, I'm pretty sure that nVidia's design specifications were: 4ns RAM for the 64MB model and 4.5ns for the 128MB model.

Of course the actual card manufacturers themselves will implement whatever RAM they want tho.....

What make of card does your friend have?

Leadtek.

TasTech have some in stock, JB is out of Gainwards...he went for an impulse purchase that seems to have paid off.

is there a Geforce4 Ti4600 that actually ships with 700mhz RAM speed???

my Leadtek A250 Ultra came with 300/650 clock

KingJackal

650 is standard.

That chart is really old.... like as in I made that version around the time nVIDIA were introducing the Ti4600 ( hence the lack of the Ti4200, Quadro4 series, yada yada ).

As KJ stated 650 is standard, but if you would like 700MHz however, feel free to overclock. ;)

At the time that chart was made the rumours were that the Ti4600 was going to have a 700MHz memory clock.

*wonders where KJ's new chart is.......* :p

already running 320/700, but i just had to make sure :D :D

yea...that chart also say the ti4600 has AGP 8x support...time for a new chart KJ...

Ummm, that list is so not right. The GF3 and GF4s are not the same chip. Nor are the Titanium GF3s a different chip. And The memory speeds are inconsistant, including DDR doubling in some and not in others. Need better list :)

Last I heard KJ had made a new chart but hadn't converted it into .gif format......

*And some little overclockers wait*

FINAL.

No further versions of the above image will be posted, as my database has grown too huge to feasibly post in .GIF format. Currently it would create an approximately 3500x4500 pixel image, which would be very hard to use. I find editing it a pain, even with dually 1600x1200 ( 3200x1200 ) monitors.

The number of cards listed has grown massively, and now includes ( to a more or less detailed level ) over 160 separate 3D cards, dating from the first piece of 3D graphics hardware for the PC ( 3DLabs GLINT 300SX ) to the upcoming beast ( nVIDIA NV30 ). So no, it's not just nVIDIA anymore.

I've also increased the number of facts documented on each card, including things like the announcement and release dates of the cards, the number of transistors in each chip, etc.

The database WILL return - but I've got to work out HOW it can do so now it's so massive. Once a suitable presentation solution and host is found, as well as many cards' details padded out, it'll come online.

And don't worry, it'll be well worth the wait....
;)

Grrr!!

It might be useful to put that in a giant spreadsheet which we can download though KJ.

An update with cards most relevant to the group would be useful, and similar data to the original table (maybe even drop some of the less useful stuff).

Break it into several smaller lists of era (running off imprecise memory here):

era 1: Generation1: dawn of 3D (Proprietary era)
PowerVR SG1 (Tile based rendering)
3dfx Voodoo Graphics (Voodoo1 + Voodoo Rush)
S3 Virge Series (3D decelerator)
Rendition Verite 100
NV1
Bitboys first card (cant remember name)
Matrox MGA220
ATi Rage/ Rage II
3D Labs Permedia

era2: Generation 2 (Glide is King)
3dfx Voodoo2 (miniGL)
Rendition V200 series (32bit colour capable)
nVidia Riva128 and 128ZX (32bit colour capable, OpenGL ICD eventually developed)
3D Labs Permedia2 (OpenGL ICD, 32bit colour capable)

era3: Generation 2.5 (Glide vs OpenGL/DirectX era. Fillrate is king)
3dfx Voodoo2 SLI (16bit)
3dfx Banshee (16bit)
nVidia TNT (32bit)
ATi Rage 128 (32bit, OpenGL ICD)
S3 Savage 3D (S3TC, OpenGL ICD)
Matrox G200 (OpenGL ICD eventually developed)

era4: Generation 2.75 (16bit vs 32bit era)
3dfx Voodoo3 (16bit, OpenGL ICD)
nVidia TNT2 (32bit)
ATi Rage Pro/ Fury MAXX (low performance hit 32bit)
S3 Savage 4 (S3TC)
PowerVR Neon250
Matrox G400 (EMBM)
3D Labs Permedia3

era5: Generation 3 (FF T&L &/or FSAA era (DX7))
3dfx Voodoo4 (FSAA, 32bit)
3dfx Voodoo5 (FSAA)
nVidia Geforce 256 (Fixed Function T&L)
nVidia Geforce2 GTS
nVidia Geforce2 MX
ATI Radeon (FF T&L)
ATi Radeon 7500
S3 Savage 2000 (FF T&L -broken)
PowerVR Kyro Series (FSAA low performance hit. Tile renderer)
nVidia Geforce4MX

era6: Generation 4 (programmable shaders (DX8/ OpenGl 1.4))
nVidia Geforce3 (P & V Shaders 1.1)
ATi Radeon 8500 (P & V Shaders 1.4)
ATi Radeon 9000 (P & V shaders 1.4, FSAA/Aniso low perf. hit)
nVidia Geforce4 (P & V shaders 1.1)
SIS Xabre

era7: Generation 4.5 (Truly programmable GPU's (DX9/ OpenGL 2.0))
nVidia Geforce FX, nV35, nV31?
ATi Radeon 300 series/ 350 series (PS2.0)
3D Labs P10 (?)
Matrox Parhelia (?) (Displacement Mapping)
(S3 Columbia, SIS Xabre2, PowerVR Series5...?)

Those are the cards I can think of...put into loose groupings. I may well be wrong on some of the placements.

i dont wana piont fingers here.. but under the process colum .. it has GF4 mx's and ti4600's with 0.13 micron.. wasent the xabre the first to have the 0.13 and the first nvidia cards the fx's.. i am pritty sure the gf 4's dont. i could be very wrong.. could someone verify for me.

That chart's about a year old. It's wrong.

Yes, you're right.

Anand has a useful chart for ATi and nVidia hardware:

nvidia here: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2195&p=3

I would say the one at Adrian's Rojak Pot (http://www.rojakpot.com/) is more comprehensive, but I don't really like the format :(
It seems to cover pretty much all graphics cards that I can think of, dunno 'bout accuracy, someone with more spare time can try and pick holes in it if they want :D
