Im very disappointed. Germany have only bet brazil on something like 3 or 4 of the 18 occassions that they have played brazil. But still they looked the better team. Very aggressive in the first half.
Also I hate RONALDO!!!!! he has the worst haircut I have ever seen, and rabbit teeth. He is a good player but they r ballhogs all of them!!!!
Man that Kahn on the german team he is a sweet goalkeeper but when he slipped that second goal out of his hands I went nuts.

the only reason they do tht is to get Free-Kicks, which is really important in Soccer, every Free-Kick counts, unlike rugby where the Ref doesnt give a piss if a player gets tackled or whtever.

Even though i supported brasil, they didnt play very good,

I must admit that I was sad not to see Denilson play more. I love the touches he has with the ball.

I found the Germans very boring to watch - all those long range blats. Thay had sooo many cahnces, but their crosses never connected with anyone.

Its so nice to watch soccer instead of rugby once in a while. I hate the way all the media are filled with rugby for 11 months of thew year - it can be so dull, and is played by so many boofheads. In Dunedin you can't leave the house on Saturday night without ruggers hugging each other in their No1s, and then getting in fights and vomiting....

I found the german style of passing the ball back to the keeper whenever a brazilian looked like he may come close to them got boring rather quick. Also, when Denilson got onto the field he nearly setup another goal, it would have been great to see him play more. But seeing the strikers in full flight was great, even the german ones were great to watch when they got something going. If only the football kingz could learn something from those guys...

Yeah - I found the Brazilan style much more enjoyable to watch. Apart from the final which was a bit of an anti climax.

The Brazil vs Costa Rica match was the best I had even seen. Full on attack and some brillant play by both teams. It's a shame someone had to lose that game, as I thought Costa Rica deserved to get through......they certainly looked more talented than a number of other teams.

Over all I was disappointed by the level of play this world cup. Comparing it to the likes of '94, it couldn't hold a candle. '94 you had so many teams who could have gone all the way. The final of that cup was in my opinion the best I have ever seen (and yes I am old enough to have seen Maradona's Hand of God). Unfortunately I was sitting in an Italian cafe during the match. I have never seen so many grown men crying in my life, when Robbie Baggio missed his penalty shot handing victory to the Brazilians.

Still I'm looking foward to Germany '06. Hopefully all the teams who performed so abissmally this year will have a chance to regroup and prepare better.

RB: I agree completely. In fact a work collegue and I had a conversation on it last week. Where he was complaining because Michael Shummacher has an ego. I pointed out to him that the guy has broken almost every record in F1 history, and that it seems to me strange to critise someone for for being the best ever. Who wouldn't be confident knowing that they were the greatest ever at something. Mohummed Ali was another one, he said he was the greatest, but he was so what's wrong with that.
I know if I was the best in the world at something I'd be pretty ddamn happy too. IMHO Tall-Poppy Syndrome comes from two things, jelousy and an inferiority complex. New Zealanders often suffer from both.

By the way I was going for Germany as well. I thought they had played better overall through the qualifiers etc. But Brazil deserved to win the final because lets face it, getting the ball in the back of the net is all the matters.

Whetu: I agree. Dunno about unihoc, but I played football as a kid (Goalie and Striker) and experienced numerous studded boots to the shins, not to mention face. Then there's the headbutting when two players are both going for the ball. Last thing it is is for the easily pained. Unihoc sounds fun :D

I was hoping the germans would win mainly because everyone said that Brazil would, I also hoped that England would beat Brazil because everyone seems to love knocking the English team(I was also watching it in an english pub in chch) and conveniently forget that they do have arguably one of the best strikers in the world in Owen, and unlike the Brazilians he doesn't have an ego to match(maybe it comes from not being held up by an entire nation as a demigod like Ranaldo et al are, hehe if those samba girls though as highly of me I'd have a big ego too :D )
