Anyone who has one of these, would you mind filling me in? I wanna use one as an exhaust fan, will the sexy ass metal face (with Tt cut out) be facing out of the case or in towards Mobo and other componentry?
:D I love ThermalTake :p

I don't have one, but it should be facing in towards the mobo, well that's my guess anyway. There should be an arrow on the side somewhere, indicating the direction of airflow.

it depends what direction you aim it. as an exhaust fan however, the metal grille will be facing into the case towards the mobo and other componentry

The grill screws off, so you can stick it anywhere you want :D
I'm sure you'll cut the grill out of your case, so you might want to put it on the outside..to stop small animals get in there...

Fulla A you just said everything I wanted to hear and also bettered my mum at the same time! (silly woman is constantly telling me that she can't tell me everything I want to hear) Congratulations, you can collect your certificate at the door.
Fulla do you have one of these fans, I hope you're not sh*tting me cos I would be SORELY dissapointed... :p
But as for detering small animals, that changes everything! I was planning to keep my flock of pidgeons in there dammit!

Yeah he might have one or two... ;)
They are pretty cool fans, i've got 2 in my rig at the moment one on the volcano 7 and the other as a front intake. Extending the thermal sensor wires is a pretty good idea so you can stick it near the hot parts of your computer.

on the subject of fans, is it possible to use 92mm fans in a 120mm fan-box thingy at the front of the case...?

I did that with a Tiger 40mm fan in my 80mm case fan holder, it worked but was loose (well.... duh :D)

Don't bother with that fan...... it doesn't pump enuff air at reasonable case temps...... I got one as an exhaust fan below my PSU but it's hardly putting out any air........ go with an 80mm SUNON BX (which can be purchased from stylespc for $19.50).... they're loud but move a lot of air and they don't require a molex plug thingie like the Deltas do :D

so whats the point in getting theses fans other than the RPM variation with Temp.
The Vantecs are quieter, and others have more air thruput.
In fact, even with the temp sensor, i dont think i'd want one..

I hate that sensor thingie, I like to be in control. I'd only get a sunon ultra quiet 80mm or a vantec fan. anyways with that grill I'd only use it on a window kit or at least somewere it can be apprecitated from (grill is ugly though hehe :D)
I wouldn't buy it

You mean... he's... John from Styles? I better pucker up, I gots me some @ss kissing to do :p. Ah well excellent, I can trust his statement.
I.R. I'm planning to use this fan as a top blowhole, I've read that using a really high speed fan on top can cause a tornado effect that doesn't move any air at all . I know not to believe everything I read - especially on the net - but it's food for thought.

Remember that your PSU is pulling air through your case...... and also remeber what component(s) you want to cool the most...... and lastly warm air rises ;)
Atomic had a really good article on case cooling.
If you can, use card board and experiment with different positions of fans..... if you are able to :D
For the CHCH guys,
you can get really quiet 80mm fans from www.computerfuture.co.nz
It's noise level is lower than the Vantec Stealth series. Price?? $10 each.
PS: If a fan draws less than 1.3W then it would be quiet.
