Im looking in buying a new HSF for my cpu, coz currently im using a stock hsf and its not that great.
is see on sites, on cpu fans, its says, p4 2.6+ or and higher
im running a p4 1.8 so doesnt it really matter that its made for 2.6 or higher, or should i look for one made for the 1.8?

Yeah, it will work on the 1.8P4, so long as you have the appropr\iate mounting mechanism on your motherboard.

, on cpu fans, its says, p4 2.6+ or and higher What this means is that this HSF can handle a P4 2.6 Ghz CPU chip. A 2.6 Ghz CPU will make more heat than your 1.8A (Well if it is the same chip design but upped speeds anyways). So a 2.6 Ghz rated HSF will do better than 1.8 Ghz rated HSF [If that is their maximal ratings].
does the hsf differ between the socket423 and socket478 mobos? Very different which is why HSF companies bring out two different versions of the same HSF. One for Socket A and one for Socket 478.

What are your cpu temp's with the stock cooler.. are you overclocking the P41.8 .. to what speed?
The words: good, under $50 and quiet.. don't really go together in a sentence when talking about heatsinks/fans
