I know nothing about these
so is there a brand i should get that is better than the rest ?
and does anyone know where i can get some in chch
I found a little prob with my onboard raid i need to have atleast one of the drives that im raiding on the SATA channel cause i can only put one drive on the IDE raid channel

Yeah looks like for RAID you do need an SATA convertor..
The only convertors I've heard of are the Abit Serriel ones that come with Abit motherboards.
I'm not sure if you can buy them seperately at all and a I haven't seen any other SATA > IDE convertors for sale in NZ.
but goodluck finding one and lets us know if you do

Q: what mobo are you running
some of the on bord RAID is stuffed up on some of the mobo ?
i think there was a thread around here with info on it :confused:
if you do get them i would like to know where you got them from ;)

I have one of the abit converter things that came wiht my motherboard. I dont plan to use it, PM me is your intrested. :)

ffs $140 just for a converter hell no
i would be better off just to go buy a PCI raid card lol they only $80

yeah but it is a 3ware one ........ there cards are hell expensive as well.... simply because they are true hardware controllers unlike most of the promise cards and all the highpoint cards......
