Wasn't to sure were to put this...but here goes;
I am looking for some software that does gantt charts and project planning.
I know that Exel does gantt charts but the person wanting the software wants something else. I've googled and come up with some software, but would like to know if anyone here has used anything that is simple, easy to use etc

Thanks for the help :)

I've done a project management course, and they showed us heaps of different software, but can't remember what they were called.

There is also Microsoft Project that does it all, have only used this type so don't know if it is better or worse than others.

I didn't even know there was such a thing until last nite
I also came across ProjecTrak Project Manager (http://www.projectrak.com/manager/) so thats the project manager side sort of taken care of, but know i need software for graphs/charts etc....especially gantt charts

I've always used MS Project myself.

p[H]0t0c[H]0p?

Heh - forgive a moron, but how complex are the charts you're drawing? Just about any charting/CAD/drawing/image editing software could potentially be used for many charts....

Wouldn't be so sure there. That product although cool, looks like its an addon to lotus's domino server (or whateva they call their product). I think domino is their web server. It also mentions how it intergrates with lotus notes. So unless you've got either of these, I dont think it will work, and I don't think it will be cheep!

From one of their product docs:

ProjecTrak is completely usable out of the box, with no
extensive setup required. Simply install it on your Domino
server, and it’s ready to go. Senior managers. ProjecTrak facilitates organizational

For maximum flexibility, you can access all functions from either the Notes client or a Web browser.

For poject management I've only used MS Project, which personally I find lacking in a few areas (and totally spastic in other areas) - won't get into detail, but hey our project manager seems happy with it, and uses it quite a bit.

Generally I use MS-Project. 2000 or later seems to work ok.. Other than that will use PMW.

Project seems to be the standard here in NZ.. I think its because the PMI require its use.

Yeah MS project is the norm, but from my course, the mind maps, gantt charts etc just seemed to be better, but I have never actually used them.

Ever seen Visio (technical & professional + one other) they were awesome, and have noe been brought out by MS. They must still be good.
