I downloaded the service pack for windows XP
now my comp is running significantly slower
any ideas?

Try checking out the mircosoft website, I've heard about this before but im not sure if they done anything. I'm sure if you have a good look you will find some infomation on thier site regarding it.

I've found it's always better to slipstream the service pack into the installation files, burn that as new bootable cd and then reformat and install the OS inc service pack.
Sure it's more work but you end up with a better running system.

Q811493 has been causing some people slowdown problems (including myself) it;s listed in Whetu's links there. I uninstalled it and things have been fine ever since.

I found te update on my add/remove files.....but when I try to remove it, it doesnt have that option for me to click
