Haven't tried it, but have been looking for a good firewall/internet sharing solution myself, it does seem to be quite good, although it looks like it shares the connection through a proxy server, I would personally use a NAT based method, but that all depends on what you want to do with the network.

Also should run more than happy on the system you described in your other thread.

I prefer multi nic solutions... they allow for overflow on one, without comprising another interface.

Although work use firewall-1 from checkpoint, I recommend Astaro Linux. It's built purely as a firewall solution, without any extras at all, and includes proxies and also pptp access (for those that have to work with M$)

Also, nothing beats a good ol ipchains setup :)

depends what you mean by multi-nic.. cos smoothwall definately does multiple nics, esp. in broadband use:

[them bones music]
the "red" interface connects to the internet
the "orange" interface connects to servers (demilitarised zone)
the "green" interface connects to your intranet
them nics them nics them nics
[/them bones music]

god that song sucked.. any of you ever get forced to sing the beatles "magical mystery tour"?

as for ipchains.. mmmmmm smoothwall does that too :D (its lunix based.. go figure)
