PC2700 512MB Winbond, TwinMOS Brand ($ 255.00 )

OR

PC2700 Transcend 512MB, Samsung Chips ($ 265.00 )

(Both of them are CAS 2.5, but I've got an Abit KR7A mobo, so we can quickly fix that :P )

I was thinking about going for the Transcend due to the fact that it's got Samsung chips (which isn't perfect, but atleast decent as I saw on a review url posted by t3ch_d0g)

Any input at all would be appreaciated.

Thanks,
MytH

I suspect that the Transcend is a bit better than TwinMOS, but being that I have 512mb of PC2100 TwinMOS I will go against my suspicions :D. Have you searched for any reviews on the TwinMOS?, bound to be one here somewhere.

My ram is the Winbond stick as well...... no probs with it on PC2100 so the 2700 should be pretty sweet as well.

---- Funny thing, my TwinMOS ram came in a Transcend box .... 'EH WTF???????'

Heres what I've heard:

Samsung TCB3 chips
On *Samsung* PCB
Single sided.

I've seen a review of it running @ 220mhz most agressive timings after burn-in:eek:.

The reviews @ SubZeroTech.com

Be careful about the TwinMOS - the best TwinMOS sticks use Micron RAM chips. TwinMOS seem to use too many different types of RAM chips for my liking, ie: Elixer, Micron, Hynix and Winbond. It's as if they are trying to find the cheapest chips instead of quality chips.

Hell yeah, the Samsung TCB3 sh*ts all over the TwinMOS stick, but would that Transcend stick have the TCB3 chips?

Cool !

I'll be going for the Transcend then :)

Also Humantuckshop you mentioned the TCB3 Samsung chips... I can't seem to find out much about that.

I went to the Transcend website and there isn't even anything about Samsung on there.

Would I be able to determine if it's TCB3 chips by looking maybe at the model number or something ?

Or would I be able to determine by looking at the manufacturing date ?

Thanx,
MytH

what VDDR go it to 220?

TCB3 or TB3 (maybe TC3, I forget) will be written on the chips, prolly at the end of the chips serial, I would look @ mine but they have heatsinks on em
