*nominates self for the ocnz idiot award*
well i semi-killed my 2100+ today. :(
i was trying disrespectives tbred b 1800+ in my motherboard to see whether it would change the multiplier (it did by the way). put my cpu back in but forgot to tighten the waterblock. it was held on the cpu but not tightly enough.
then i turned it on and broke the first rule of heatsink/waterblock fiddling - always check the temps in bios as soon as you turn it on!! - and walked away after hitting the switch. came back in 10 minutes to find a black screen. hit reset, locked before i could enter bios.
after replacing the waterblock properly i noticed that the temps were roughly 10 degrees higher than before and it failed prime95 at stock speed and voltage. it's stable at 1300mhz but that's about it. current temp is 40 degrees at 1300/100 @ 1.70V whereas previously it was 32 degrees at 1820mhz and 1.85V. not sure whether it actually is running hotter or the sensor was damaged from the heat :p (i'd say the first is more likely)
sh!t happens eh :(
