What you want to do is open up google in your web browser and do a search for cpu database.. or overclocking database..
There a a few sites that have a big collection of results from loads of users overclocking...
The KG7 is a good board... but it's showing its age... a via KT266a based chipset is faster, it seems especially in the memory department.. more features.. more frequent updates from the via guys then the amd team.
Can pick one up cheap 2nd hand, as people upgrade to KT333..
Pretty cheap new now too..

www.overclockers.com has an awesome cpu database :)
And i would agree with ragnor, go for a secndhand kt266A, or even an nForce if u have twin modules of DDR

The Duron stepping to look for would be the 'AXIA' - this stepping is used by most Durons, from 1GHz to 1.3GHz. So, in theory if you got a 1GHz Duron with the 'AXIA' stepping you should be able to get it running @ 1.3GHz. Personally I think it would be more like 1.4GHz - depending on the mobo, of course.
Damn it Wibber! What do you think he is, an overclocker or a feature whore? :p
Glycerine: If you can afford the extra $69 - get the Epox 8K3A+. If not, buy a second hand KT266A mobo - like Ragnor and SP suggested.

ummm, AXIA is a tbird stepping. the duron steppings you'd want are either AHLCA/AHHAA for morgan duron (current durons), or AKBA/AKCA spitfire duron (old durons)...
check out the Overclockers.com (http://www.overclockers.com) CPU database...
edit - oh, the KG7 is a pretty legendary board but i wouldn't pay that much for it... you could probably pick up a nice secondhand Epox 8KHA+ for less.

Really? I thought the Spitfire Durons used the AXIA stepping just like the T/Bird did. Anyway my bad, this is the article that caused my confusion: http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1069 scroll down to the first paragraph under Overclocking. WTF are they on about then?

lol, i think he was referring to the overclockability of the chip, much like the "AXIA' phenomenon, so to speak.

Oh, OK then. I was never that poor that I had to get a Duron anyway. So I don't know arse all about them. :)

epox 8k3a
its cheap
and u can run your duron at 166fsb with the fsb in spec
get a AHLCA they seem to be the best cores for duron
its what my 1ghz Duron at 1.5 has :P
from personal experince, AHLCA is good, AHHAA is bad,
amazingly enough, today I was running stable at 175MHz FSB on a KT266A board, cause I unlocked my chip today.

Personally I wouldn't recommend ETC Computers. Their operating procedures are dodgy to say the least. :(
Also the DRV5 is too risky a purchase IMHO - you may end up with one that has the 'CD' revision Northbridge.
Also, here is a link that works: www.etccomputers.co.nz

Dodgy? I don't think so, as I buy computer parts from their shop I think they r good. Last time my speaker broke I go back swap with another new one, no extra hassle! (only 10 minute drive from my place)
Grrr!!

Trust me, I used to work at the Royal Oak branch of ETC Computers.
They used to have a 'No refund' policy and they had no actual workshop and did not take static precautions either. And they used to assemble computers in front of the customers aswell - because the shop space was inadequate.
But I don't know what they are like now as I worked there last year. Apparently there is a new branch in New Lynn - I don't know what they're like either.
All I can say is I worked there and would not recommend them.

I c, so if u want a refund they will refuse u? Maybe i should change to another shop then...
But for computer parts I think they still did a great job at keeping some price low.
I use to work at computer shop as well, that one was in the city but their store was quite big... (they have workshop, big store room at back, rest room, and toliet) which is 3 times the size of ETC computer. Too bad their price is quite high....
And when I was buying the GF4ti from them. That lady open the box and start showing me off on how big the HSF and software blah blah blah like I was a computer n00b. At that time I was afraid she will "fry" it with her hands as she keep on touching that card with her "dirty" fingers.
But basically if u just buy parts then I think it is alright as their price is reasonable. But for buying computer then I would stick with my "trusted" shop which at least I work there and know ppl there quite well.
PS:Soltek is quite a good board... I friend has it and it is really stable
