yay! now there is something truley worthy of my phase change project.
That first article has got me thinking about hardwiring in a 13 multiplier :) stupid 12.5 max multiplier KT266A mobo
though I should really find the ceiling of my chip first

here's the correct link:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1264
it's interesting to see that it can do 2155 @ 1.65V... but the extra .25V only gets it another 200MHz... but i guess that's just the OC'ing game...

world record of a T-bred at 2585mhz - here (http://www.bekkoame.ne.jp/ha/id25302/xp2200_dora.html) on LN2

It doesn't look like LN2, it looks like a big hollow block of copper filled up with frozen water. And it looks like they feed more ice into it.
Thats an awesome overclock.

well, if its a big copper tube full of ice it couldnt have gone down that much in temps. Maybe -30 at most.

Don't you mean 0 at most?
That's a LN2 cooler. The N2 is poured in as a liquid, and it just evaporates away into the air - that's what the cloudy stuff on top is, nitrogen mist ;).
2 much thinking

*takes a harder look at picture second time around.
doesn't really look like N2 mist very much, its quite foamy. did they add some soap suds for the effect;)
thats one awesome score tho...

I can't read japanese or whatever that world record OC was, but: It looks like the record was set on an Epox 8K7A mobo, and used 64meg of Micron PC2100 ram. The bit that MOST impresses me is that they managed to run them components at over 200MHz FSB speed? And the cooling looked like it was all aimed at the CPU, so that board was doing pretty well methinks. Or am I missing something?

well the board is modded to the hilt in true japanese style (looks like a TurboPLL i see there), so it's not entirely impressive - i mean, it is impressive but those guys do that sort of thing all the time.

What about dry ice (solid CO2) about -30-40C from memory. There just doesn't seem to be enough LN2 Vapour, and LN2 would cool the chip down more than that (IMO).

mird-oc, using a turbo PLL would help u hit higher fsb speeds? All i thought they were for was to override the bios restrictions by manually changing the crystal on the mobo. That shouldnt help ur fsb would it?
Turbo PLL's are used on mobos like the asus p4t533, on the i850e chipset coz they cant get n e higher than 150fsb in the bios. Thats wat all the hardout japs uses when OCing p4's to 4ghz...
What happened to the SSE support?!?!?!?!? I thought the t-bred was only a die shrink

Thats news to me, is this the only pic you have seen?
I got that pic from http://www.bekkoame.ne.jp/ha/id25302/xp2200_dora.html which Volodkovich had in a post :p
I'll do a google and see if I can find more t-bred WCPUID screenies :o

these are from WCPUID 3.0f

turbo plls can also allow tweaking of the PCI and AGP bus speeds to overcome limitations in this area.
