basically a barton with only 256k L2 cache

Um that makes no sense what so ever :confused: Make a barton but disable half its cache and discard a cheaper alternative that dosen't need any modifications........ hmmmmm.......... sounds like a load of BS to me :rolleyes:

nah not really provides somewhere for some binned chips to go, kinda like GPUs of late...... just disable part of the chip and sell it as something else........

guess we will know in a few months anyway.....

Thortons were always going to come out. They aren't broken Bartons, they are TBred's with 166FSB instead of 133FSB.

If there are som Bartons in agmongst them, there may be a way to enable tha cache by golden fingers or something.

Isnt a Tbred a 256k cache unit?

Yes yes, I know its "identifier" will say its a "Blorton" but seriously, wouldnt these just be hax0rd Tbreds with a modified sticker and id?

Tbred is 256k total cache, this has 256k L2 cache

ummm.. nah. tbred has 128k L1, 256k L2. this has 128k L1, 256k L2.

yeah kinda by the sounds of it but it wont be crippled like the duron of old....... will still run at same FSB etc.... just less cache is the only thing they really say will be different....
