Prometeia cooling systems might be closer than you think, in direct competition to the likes of the famous branded Vapochill cooling system

My contacts across the Tasman inform me the immolate arrival of a set rig should show any direct comparison.
With ever increasing interest from the extreme overclocking community initial indicators would appear to have a 20% price differential in their barebone offering.

worth a closer look ?

And this will cost ... ?

mmm yes. apparently they've got around twice the cooling capacity of the vapochill too... mmm... do you know if they have any SMP options in the pipeline?

Looks promising.

I like how they use a standard looking case. Leaves lots of room for modding :D

H2g0 - do you know if it's possible to FC other components like the graphics card as well. Sort of like with an h2o setup where a loop is created which passes over all the different components each cycle. Or is it necessary for each component to be indervidually worked on? (how that isn't too gibberish and you can get what I mean) :)

Grrr!!
Reports tell me - Vapochill barebone sell in the vicinity of $1540.00 AU
so I would expect some were in the low $1200.00 AU mark

I also understand this is qty dependent based on 20 pce lot

I haven't seen any one create a "loop" from a single header ( Phase cooled )
I expect that's the next natural evolutionary cycle - R&D kiwi style maybe

It's like mird-OC said : water cooling isn't as chic as it was - going main stream - this would apear the next level up

mird-OC
not aware SMP piped or not
I'm sure the've got it covered in R&D

:)

looks pretty impressive, but really hardly anyone's gonna part with that kind of money for just a few more mhz than tec/h20 will give you...

if i had the money available right now, i'd get one. it's not so much about the extra speed (which is nice bonus), but it's about it being efficient (which water+peltier setups aren't), quiet, tidy, and unique. there are people out there who spend almost that much on just a case.

Plus considdering the huge amounts of funds we all pour into out boxes while learning from our mistakes along the way

This option makes good sence from the start IMHO

Yeah it's the efficency that's the real turn on. And unless your constantly modding cases, you generally don't upgrade them anywhere near as much.
Also if you think about what you can spend on a water setup plus case it isn't too bad for a pro job with kick a$$ results. Although at least once I'd like to build it myself. Unless of course enough things needed to be done to it (prometia) to make getting one still original and fun.

Well from all acounts the performance/efficency is there
with a -40deg

site quote
The Prometeia is optimized for maintaining below -40C/-40F in the range up to 80W, but capable of maintaining an impressive -28C at a CPU load of 150W at 20C ambient temperature, thus having a comfortable margin for future processors.
From a Prometeia system mounted with standard Asus P4S333 Mainboard, Intel Pentium 4 2.2 GHz (Northwood) @1.8V @ +3 Ghz running CPU Stability Test 6.0. maximizing the CPU heat production, average display temperature shows -35C / -31F

& the Idea of of adding your own case to the base box is a sweetener IMHO - extending iT's life

here - another look
