Where? When?
I guess most of us want to meet sometime to burn animal flesh then consume it, so where/when shall we do this?

I was thinking Friday lunchtime - as just about everyone will be in ChCh then. It's just working out WHERE that's the issue.
Preferably close to the LAN - but you can't hold it AT C-LAN, or at Hagley Park.... any idea's?
( would possibly see about 20-40 people )

I would think a place like the field near where I live is a good place, but it's miles [relatively] from C-Lan. But that may get as good as it gets aye. Does Hagley Park not have a BBQ area? I was under the impression that it did have a designated place for that...

I know the park behind christ college or some where around there (not botanical gardens) has a BBQ area with a pavalion. Victoria Lake, i think? Long walk from CLAN though.
The weather is supposed to turn bad for the next few days isn't it?
Anyway, I'm keen to help out with the barbeque. I'm also happy to pitch in some money to help out with a bulk buy of meat or beer. If we can pool a couple of hundred $ between us it could turn out nicely :p

Does it really need to be close to clan.. its going to be 6 hours earlier for a start.. it is lunch.. and yeah.. its not like we will be going straight to clan afterwards..
I was hoping it would be an all day affair.
Eating large amounts of burnt meat, socialising, drinking, wakeing up the next day in whetu's arms with a hangover etc... ;)

Ya James is right, even if ya do have some sleep on sunday, ya still feel like sh!t the next day I reckon.
If it's going to be on friday we need to get it all sorted tomorrow so peeps have time to get their sh@t together.
Is anyone else willing or able to help out with funds for the food?

SUBWAY !!!
lets get the biggest subway we can get (or at least one as big as stove got...) and split the cost between those of us who are interested.
the thing is, we coul do this AT the lan :D
I like that idea too :D
But It'd still be nice to have an OCNZ only event as well. Group photos / hugs and socialising :p

Is there no possibility of having a BBQ in the carpark behind C-Lan before the LAN starts KJ?

We can't have any beer at the BBQ if we have it in a city park type area (the new anti-drinking bylaws)

can't we just have the BBQ in C-LAN? a little smoke never hurt anyone (and if it did then they can just STFU :p).

Funds?
If we could find a place to hold it, there's a good chance I could bring bread, margarine, sauce etc - and you get people to BRING THEIR OWN MEAT. ( because otherwise you'll get more people than anticipated, and meat is expensive ;) )
Yeah, I did think about Victoria park - but I'm not sure....
...and why not go straight from the BBQ to the LAN? Chances are most of the setup work for the LAN will be done on Thursday and Friday morning ;).

which makes me suggest this:
can we bring our rigs in before the BBQ, set em up, then go eat after all that hard work! :p

Hell if the weather is like this *looks outside* I say we either congregate in someone's lounge *bags not* or go to a licenced pool hall and forget about the food just start drinking and have a pool tourney.
I'll definitely be in no matter what we're doing. Would be nice to get all set up before hand too. As long as the doors are able to be locked while we're not there.
