RB, /me, and several others all have a Dynalink RTA model router. Seems to do the trick - though I've gotta admit to never actually getting to test it with more than 4 PC's on the LAN :(.

My model is old, and has been replaced by the RTA210, which can be had for only $330 from Styles, $330 from Tastech, $340 from Dragon - basically, it's good value for money.

I was a little suspicious ( given how cheap it was ) when I went to buy one, but I can now assure you that it's not cheap crap :D.

I only need it so i can have 4 comps max on it so that one sounds pretty sweet.

How much money do you have to spend TheCrow? I've heard the Nokia Ni500 are good. I've seen a few on TradeMe go for reasonable amounts.

The Nokia M1122 is regarded to be the best. But has a price tag to match.

I have mates with the Asus one and find it to be really good. Also the Nokia Ni500. We've got a Zyxel at college and that works well.

So would it be better to get one with an inbuilt hub of buy a router and hub seperately

500? For well under that ( $480 ) I'd pick up a BRAND NEW Dynalink RTAwhatsitsfish router and a C-NET ( read: generic ) 8-port switch. ( those prices from Styles (http://www.stylespc.com/) )

That way I could leave the router routing at home when I took my switch to LAN parties.... ;) ;)

But then, I would, wouldn't I? :D

Heh - the Nokia's are good routers. They're basically the pricier all-frills-included routers, and are the recommended devices to use according to Telecom. I just don't like the idea of router and switch in one.

But then, I'm the nut with a 29 port 100Mb network down the hall.... :D

Go the Nokia M1122, that baby owns, me, my uncle and his 3 mates used to spend weekends playing UT, CS and Q3 on it ... the speed is wicked.

What are you talking about? That's only a 3-week *bump*.

Lol - I've seen 2 year *bump*s on forum's before. Teeheee....
:D

( they're normally of the 'look how lame we were' variety - either that or the *bump* get's flamed so bad the thread doubles in size :D )

*rebump*

The router you got has the single network interface? Not the multi? I take it you got the switch with it? How'd the switch perform...some of the genericy ones tend to be slow as shizer...just fishing for info...might go with the Surecomm one, its cheap as hell, but I know their 16 port variety is nice like pie.

Whats that difference between single and multi interface? i did get a switch but not the cnet one, the one i got is just a generic one nothing fancy (it say Starbase on the box), but ive had no troubles so far with any of the components so im happy.
