I know that these are poping up quite a bit but i just thought I would share a bit about my recent purchase and OC. This topic needs more threads anyway, it is Overclockers NZ for a reason :)

First off it's a XP2100+ TbredB, AIUHB, week 6 of this year. It is not unlocked

My house is quite cool which is goodness for temps :)
Im only running a Volcano 9 but I have reasonably good case air flow and I check the temp very often when OC/ing.

I had it sitting for a week just running at stock because I didn't see any point in OC as my hdd died just as i got the chip :( However with that replaced i bumped the FSB straight up to 166 (2158Mhz) and upped the core to 1.7V Ran fine, played some BF and did some benchies. Was happy with that for a while and just played around with the voltage and checking temps.

Left it downloading overnight with my V9 on lowest (1500rpm), put V down to 1.65 and case fans on low, woke up and CPU was at 37, case 29.

Then I got bored the other day and up the FSB to 170, can't remember V, and then eventually 177 @ 1.8V which gives me a grand speed of 2.3Ghz; I had the case side off, my V9 on full and CPU temp got to 34 degrees. I did a 3dmark test and then went back to 166 @ 1.65V

All I would like to do now is unlock it, up the FSB and bring the multi down so I can have the V at a reasonable level so the CPU will last me for at least a year :) Is 1.7 - 1.75 ok running continuosly?
Im looking at going W/C in the not too far future; couple of months maybe.

Nice overclock dude :)
1.75V is fine for running continuously with.
1.85V would be stretching it a bit.
Not too shabby for a V9 eh :D

Thanks,

I had it at 1.8V in bios (about 1.82-1.83 actual) for about 10 mins; higest Ive taken it. Those low temps are care of my room, think the highest I've ever seen it was 41. That was at 166 @ 1.7V after playing BF for several hours at our Lan so the ambient temp was quite high with all the other PC's also.

Yeah the V9 has been a good purchase, alot better than a stock cooler and reasonable price. Will probably use it in our gaming server once I go W/C.

I've had mine at 1.85 for testing, but I only recommend 1.75-1.775v.

Some people take theirs up to 2.1v, but I wouldn't even atempt to take one of these above 1.9.

My old palamino I had I took up to 2.05 for testing, but ran permanantly at 1.85-1.9.
