I've been working on the MSI 645 Ultra for about a month now. I totaly love this board, but I am experiencing some problems with my FS bus. I have a P4 478 1.6 gig CPU and it runs totally stable at a little over 2.1 gig's. But when I first asembled the computer and loaded the default CMOS settings after a while(usually after playing a video game or something CPU intensive) my fs bus would jump up to 125 mhertz and stay there even after a reboot. I thought that perhaps my system info was at fault, but other programs such as 3D benchmark, Motherboard Monitor, MSI info viewer and even that site www.pcpitstop.com all said my frontside bus was 125 which equals 2gigs with the 16xmultiplier, even though my CMOS said 100 mhrz. If a bump the FS bus in CMOS my computer would jump even higher according to the system info software. I have no idea what is causing this. Any thoughts?

Remove the CMOS battery and disconnect the power supply from the mobo for about an hour and then see what happens.

Have you checked the MSI website for a newer BIOS? Maybe this is a common issue with the MSI board and 1.6GHz CPU's. You can even try an older BIOS.

I disconnected the power and CMOS battery and everything is finally back to normal. I would have never thought of trying that.

Thanks,
