Hey lads!

I was wondering if anyone here is using a Geforce4 Ti4600 yet? I happen to have gotten my hands on a Leadtek A250 Ultra a while back, and i am very happy with it.

I would like to know the following:

1) Who has one, and how well did it overclock?

2) Has anyone used the Nview option, with one CRT and a LCD? i was thinking of trying it, but LCD's are expensive and i want to know how usefull it is before i jump into anything.

My Ti4600 clocks @ 320/695 right now...

My Ti4200 gives me that out of the core.. But I'm left jealous of your memory speed :p

Nice :D :D

what RAM does your Ti4200 use?

My Ti4600 uses Samsung RAM i believe, and it has the Pins underneath the RAM chip, not on the sides like standard DDR RAM.

I got the same card as you.. only a coupla weeks ago... seems fine.. tho i haven't tried the n-view yet.. I'll be using two CRT's when I do. Did you get a DVI to VGA adapter in the box?... looks like some markets are getting them and others not...
I have run the speeds at wot you got.. but sitting back on stock for the moment.. didn't test the stabilty or nuthing.. just having a look..

I'ts called BGA ram dude
BGA = Ball Grid Array
its a whole lotta balls under the ram chip :D
They run cooler, work marginally faster, but are more fragile than "normal" rectangular ram (TSMC i think....)
Once u have put a ramsink on BGA mem, i wouldnt advise taking it off....

My Ti-4200 did 330 for core and 575 for memory.

Silver, it's called TSOP process.

Ah, thats right, thanks Hans
Just clicked that TSMC stands for "Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co"

I would be particularily interested to hear back from anyone running dually's off a Ti4600 with their displays @ 1600 or higher. I just want to know what the 2D quality is like ( I know the Chaintech's are mediocre, and if the Leadtek's are anything like all their other cards, they'll be good... )?

But yeah - you can buy a DVI adapter, which allows you to run a CRT off the secondary output.

Though I'm not sure what it can do - cos the DVI port only supports up to 1600 res :( - so I doubt the adaptered version would do any higher....

KJ,

to the best of my knowledge, the DVI output chip used on most of the GF4 Ti series is Sillicon Image S11164CT64.

That chip's output resolution is limited at 1280*1024. I am not sure about other DVI output chips though.

I believe the 2D output on *most* GeForce 4 cards are pretty blah ... apparently text gets blurred on most GF4 cards on 1600 X 1200.

At the moment I am thinking of getting the Gainward GS one with 2 DVI ports [who know ... i may switch to dually LCD later on in 1-2 years]. I'll let you know how the performance is like ... well you'll have to come to see it yourself cos your eyes seem to detect any sense of fuzziness.

:D .. on the other note > P|-|AR to my TR|PL3 monitor setup :) Even my other PCI card is a 3D accelerator ........ ahem... sorry.

Hans: I am VERY impressed with your core & memory overclock... that's a fantastic score.

Roman: I was thinking of getting the LeadTek card .... but the idea of that card falling .... *shudders*

Screws huh? Be careful not to tighten them too much or the PCB may crack/split.

*bad flashback*

heh, im sayin this coz apparently no one has voltmodded a chaintech ti4600 successfully and i kinda wanna know - im building a massively OCed system and wanna pick the best card

The cheapest one you can find ;) - ie: not a Leadek. Maybe source a SPARK Ti4600 from Thailand.
