hi there

ive finally decided to give this p4 a test at o/c

its a p4 2.4ghz B 1.5v

i took it up slowly going from 133mhz to for instance 140 mhz

now my mobo is a ASUS p4s8x

my normal cpu temp and mobo temp is around 40/38

when i got to 150fsb my modem cuts out
now i took it to 166fsb and now the modem works?

the new temps havent changed much either 41/38

this is all with stock cooling too and still stock voltage of 1.5v

now im wondering now that its at 166fsb does that mean the pci bus has autoly changed to a divider or 5 instead of 4?

because my modem didnt like 155 fsb /37 mhz on pci bus

but when i go into the bios it says stuff like 166fsb/42mhz pci

also when its at 166fsb its running at 2880 mhz instead of 2980 mhz (18 x 166 = 2980 mhz)

also my mobo only says it goes up to 166 fsb?

do i have to enable somethnig to make it go higher or something?ccause i remember my previous asus mobo having fsb upto 199?

Not that I have any experance on this board Testing

however, I do know @ 166FSB your pci's & agp etc are back to speci speed if not "locked" within the bios & hence your pci modem works

Question
what Vcore adjustmants have you tried on that b0 stepper

search out Asus forum for like problem might assist or confirm
lookie here (http://www.asusboards.com/forums)

;)

its more likely that you wont be able to play bf @ 166 fsb on air..

i'm p4 2.53 @ 2.85 [152 fsb] on air and thats about it if you wanna play bf with stability..sure i can get to the desktop ..@ 3ghz + but cant stay up two secs in bf..

also the machine was beginning to heat quickly after 2.85 so i pulled the vcore down to 1.5 ..runs 38-40 on idle

k

sweet
but if i did up the voltage to like 1.6 or something higher and just tested it might it work? or wil it cut the life of my cpu in half?
