very nice...

hmm it's going to be a heck of a decision which way to go (amd / intel) in the great upgrade that will immediately follow the release of Doom III

I think you should take that CPU back to the shop their Stevo
They’ve obviously given you the wrong chip :p

1G+ on Air ! Now You Know Thats Wrong ;)

*wonders what gain would be if incorporated into asetek inc.*

When someone wants to buy a C1 Pentium4, how do you know your gonna get a C1? Most online retailers just ship u a CPU they have in stock and prolly dont have a clue which stepping its gonna be...

That said, I want one!!! here i am with 800mhz on top of a 1.6a...

Such a hard life :D

Intel provides "S" codes to indicate the chip details
and by chance their stepping is included in this spec

Source codes here (http://processorfinder.intel.com/scripts/list.asp)

Click on the sSpec number to see the complete set of processor specs

So you can request this infomation from your retailer to confirm the chosen stepping required

P4 3.06 GHz
Ie : SL6SM
is a retail Box set with C1 stepping
while
P4 3.06 GHz
is also plus available in OEM (cheaper) & retail Box package

Most retailer should have the fresher C1 stepping avaialble now anyhow

Yes I walked into the shop and asked to see the box.
The label showed SL6EG and also the pack date was 9/2/2003
It just had to be a C1.... and so it was :D
$ 426 inc gst

If looking at a 2.53 the word is SL6S2 are hitting 3400-3500+ on AIR with almost DEFAULT voltages

oc-forums here (http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=171166)

and here (http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=174580)

Hum . . might have to trade in these B0's real soon then

Seems that SL6S2 is multi VID, some discussion here .. http://www.overclockers.com/tips00321/

Mr. Flasher, may I suggest you part with your trusty 2.26 thru trade me ??.... and for just a few dollars more ... *Shazzamm * in your vaporized setup

that would be a real cat scarer

Easiest way to find a C1 without opening the retail box is to note the voltage on the white sticker.

B0 = 1.500volts
C1 = 1.525volts

No entirely sure about the new Multi-VID ones... I know the voltage of these CPU's isnt written on the CPU but its more than likely going to say 1.525volts on the box.

I also managed (by complete luck) get myself a 2.53 C1 stepping.. (mine was cheaper 409 inc gst).

Gonna see how it OC's when my new fan's arrive (for the Volcano 7 ++ mod).

Hope I can get a similar OC.

Question: what motherboard?

Hey what about the Prescott P4? arnt intel gonna release slower (2.4+) versions based on the .09micron process soon? with the 800mhz fsb?

and QMB.co.nz (http://www.qmb.co.nz) has the ultra cheep P4's... god knows where he gets them from at that price...

Walt

Prescott is indeed going to be using the .09 fab process, but word is we will also see a move to a new socket as well ... which will probably mean it'll be marketed as a Pentium 5 or something ... :)

If AMD manage to deliver the Hammer in volume in Q3, then I think Prescott will shortly follow. Otherwise expect Prescott in the new year.

Until then we will be getting new 800/200MHz Northwoods in the next month (probably May until they start turning up in NZ and Australia) ... 2.4, 2.6, 2.8, 3.0, 3.2. This will be as high as Intel will scale the Northwood core, as until Hammer arrives, there is little competition in the high-end-enthusiast segment. These are reported to support HT, and of course we will have lower multipliers at last ...

These will be complimented with the Springdale/Canterwood chipsets which will support the new bus, and support DDR400. Also the new ICH5 will incorporate SATA and possibly RAID as well (no need for separate controllers). Springdale PE chipset will support both 533/800 CPU's, Springdale P will support 400/533 only (ie why would you buy this?). Canterwood has "performance application technology" which apparently results in up to 5% better performance than Springdale PE.

The question is ... do you upgrade to these or wait for Prescott?? Answer: depends on how much cash you got ... :D :D

Prescott should be a good overclocker, can just imagine overlocking a 3.2 prescott to 4.5ghz+ on Air...

And I wonder if the 200mhz FSB pentiums will overclock well? i'd imagine they'd be platform limited if anything. Sure the springdale PE can do DDR400, but how far ABOVE that can it go? Its gotta be straining to some degree at 200mhz...

OK, overlocking a P4 2.4ghz with 200mhz FSB to 3.2ghz would require an fsb speed of... 266.66mhz! or DDR-533, thats lots.... and i doubt the new intel chipset could do that...

From the normal channels..

Oh before I forget the new 3.06 800Mhz CPU (boxed set code BX80532PG3000D) pricing has been set and your local dealer should be able to take orders.. I just looked at the pricing and its real good. ETA 16/4

The 800Mhz 2.4 will be avail on the 9/4

There is also a 2.6 and 2.8 on the way.

Should see some boards at soon as well..

I'm going to double check the prices tomorrow as they seem too good to be true.

How "too good to be true" would that be then? :)

My sources told me the 2.4C for example would be only $30-40 more than the 2.4B ....

Quite correct Mr Stevo

Tis early daysyet & have just slapped her in H2O rig with fine results

compared to its predecessor the b0 not being able to roll over the 3G mark while running on the exact same system this little puppy is humming along quite nicely @ 3256

Update at 11
Edit\
looks like my H2gO ceiling has been reached for tonights endouvers with no real advancment on 3256

I can feel the r134a running already
