hi guys, i am currently using ihug's satellite plan + 56k modem, and wanna connect up two compus with wireless LAN, but i hv ABSOLUTELY no knoeledge in this area and so will want to seek some advices :p

1)what brands and models are good and why are they good?

2)how much will it cost?

3)how hard will it be when i want to connect up 3 compus in the future? ( just simply adding an additional adaptor)?

4)how hard is it to setup?

5)is there any other things (precautions) that i should know?

thx in advance!

You can by a router and share your connection, but the problem with Ihug is that it only does down loads. The only way I can think of sharing both 56K and Ihug is through Windows Connection Sharing.

Just get a crossover cable and connect the two coms together.

Think you guys are getting confused (or I am, one of the 2).
All you need t do is buy a wireless router (I'd recommend Linksys as they're blue and sexy) and a PCI adapter + wireless PCMCIA card for your other PC. I'm using a nokia wireless router, but it just uses a PCMCIA card for transmission and it sucks (wont even transmit to the other side of the house).
From here, you'd hook the router up to the PC with the shared Ihug connection and put the adapted and wireless card in the other PC.... simple :D

ps... it aint going to be cheap... you're looking at about $350-500 for the router... you could get away with just a WAP (wireless access point), but you may as well get the router if you got the cash... and then around $150-200 for the PCMCIA card and adapter.
*disclaimer* prices are just guesses btw
