First of all, this is troubleshooting, post it in there.
Yes i know i know, so dont bother mmk.
It's common sense.
"am i troubleshooting a problem, oh i will post it in drivers"
anyway, is your fsb clocked up?
Install old ac97 drivers.
Try disabling various components in your volume controls, like ine in, bla bla bla.
Get a soundcard
shock horror, so im told, most soundcards are better than the ac97
i however like ac97, but hey.....

I had a SB16 firstly, then an AWE32....
Pity the awe32 goes louder without distorting, ie: when listening to DivX's on me headphones AC97 is crap.
But on the awe32 its sweeeeeet.
*shrugs*
the quality is nicer on the ac97 tho.....
Next upgrade after gfx is acoustic edge or something nice, and klipsch 5.1s

sorry i know, it started as a rant but turned into trubleshooting

I haven't tried "rolling back" the drivers and my fsb is 145mhz. It happens when not oced as well so it shuldnt be that. Neh hopefully new drivers come out soon

Question : what OS?

I have XP and I too had distortion, till I ran the Update Wondows thingy and got some new drivers, and since then it sounds like sex on wheels/legs.

Of course, when I can afford it, and when I have upgraded pretty much EVERYTHING ELSE I too will get the Acoustic Edge, or its futuristic equivalent.
