Hi all,
I’m putting a very small network/Work group together for a friend of mine. For the world of me I can’t get ‘access’ to any of the user accounts across the network. I can these 'user accounts' under Doc & Settings but am denied access. (Look don't touch!)
Each workstation can access the internet fine. Each workstation can also ‘see’ and access each others C:\ drives just fine including the sharing of printers. (everything seems fine right? Wrong) (Heres the problem): None of the workstations can ‘access’ any of the ‘User folders’ under documents and settings????? The User folders (Which ONLY have “Power User” permisions) can be seen just fine but no access is allowed. (Despite them being setup to fully share over the network!) I get an “access denied you might not have permission” message or something like that popup when any attempt is made to access these user folders.”
On each workstation I logged on as the administrator and 'FULLY' shared the C:\ drive, and the 'User Folder' (Tina) It should be working???
My first thought was to try and create all three user accounts on each workstation including accounts named for each computer. This did not work.
Then I tried logging on as the administrator on all three workstations to see if the administrator would have enough power to access these user folders. Nope!
I give up!!!! Little Help please.
Here’s the setup:
Three workstations named (one, two , three). One and Two are running XP-Pro Sp-1, and workstation ‘Three’ is running Win2000 pro sp3. I have joined each to the workgroup ‘Rivera’, using that wizard under: System Properties>computer name>Network ID button.
On each workstation I have created a User Account with “Power User” privilages only. (These are named: Tina, Gina, and Maria) these will be the accounts that the employees will work off of on a daily basis. (The owner of the business will work out of the administrator account.)
I’m using a Linksys router as the hub and to inport broad band from a cable modem (surfboard). All workstations are pluged into the router and the Cable modem is plugged into the Wan input.
The route is just using default settings with DHCP enabled.
I would greatly appreciate any help.
