I really wanted to play it for years, then I tried it a few months ago and banged into the painful brick wall of unwatchable graphics. I just couldn't concentrate after that, and never finished the first few levels. Kind of a pity I didn't get to it earlier :( It would have been wiked as by all accounts it was an amazing single player experience. Just not one for todays gamers used to the glory of the new lithtech engine.

Played it - took me over 3 weeks to finish, considering i usually clock a game in weekend.
Great story line altho i hear the new one is going to be more open ended.
But out of all each of the endings were briliant i hope they are again.
Also Warren Spector is producing again :) :) :)

I played Dues Ex fours times doing all the endings the second time it took me 48 hours to finish the game i played non stop lol
the only prob with Dues Ex 2 will be that they made it shorter cause non of the americans could finish the first one cause they thought it was 2 long
but should be a awsome game the Dues Ex

Yes, I played Deus Ex and I thought it was great. The graphics were the only bad thing but from what I can see, Deus Ex 2 should have superb graphics. I blame Deus Ex's graphic downfall because they were using the original Unreal I game engine [They made a semi-transient switch to use some of the updated Unreal engine, but not a lot]. However, it proved to me that games like Deus Ex didn't need fantastic graphics to show it was a good game.

Don't know why, but I've never really gotten into Deus Ex, don't know if it's the graphics, or just the "Feel" of the game, but it never really grabbed me.......might just reinstall it and have another go though

it did actually take me a while to get into too... i got a copy of it bundled with something else and after playing it for 5 minutes i sorta flagged it. but in a fit of boredom a few months later i decided to fire it up again, and an hour later i was hooked :p

Only thing i worry about is it's requirements, somehow I doubt that my Pc will be able to run it.

Yeah I agree, I am planning my next upgrade already (shifting from an Enermax case to a ShuttleXP). This game will be using a lot of DX8.1 technology as well which should be cool.

IMHO Gameplay will always win out over pretty graphics, I recently finished System Shock 2 for the first time (took me a while to get into it too), but damn awesome -and for a 1999 game it had some pretty good graphics considering that was the year half-life came out.
If you can put up with dated graphics but want a similarly good game to Deus Ex -get System Shock 2 for like $20 in the bargain bins. Definately worth it IMHO. Great sound too.

Yeah, System Shock 2 and Dues Ex are similiar becuase Warren Spector did them both :) Although, becuase people pirated SS2, Looking Glass Studios went broke, which meant no SS3...
Dues EX was very hard to get into (start levels horrendous) but the rest of the game was good. DE2 should own. Between that and Halflife 2 and Doom III the rest of this year should be good :)

Wrong EIDOs gave John Romaro a ****load of money to produce Daikatina which kept getting pushed back, after awhile EIDOs had to choose between Ion Storm or Looking Glass Studios as it couldn't afford both so hense Looking Glass Studios was closed down.
(Romaro got his walking orders to keep Ion Storm alive)
Also Looking Glass Studios final games were the Thief series.
Ion Storm also grabbed alot of the staff from Looking Glass Studios when it closed so hense Thief 3.
And if you read one of the Latest interview with Spector he says hes interested in another System Shock.

Ummm, Deus Ex had the WORST copy protection EVER. Made it very handy to not need to worry about putting the cd in though. It involved changing one line in a certain installed file. I mean, no patching/cracking needed. And they didn't go broke.

Elle T - the game still sold badly. And losing money on a game didn't help :P
and, just found this :
lg left their financials in a very strange place. i spent a bunch of money trying [to find out about who owns what of Shock 2] and then gave up. hard to find. i had my lawyers look into it and all i got was a hefty legal bill...
there's a bunch of problems with shock 3. first off, is how even if you can make the game, how do you make it successful at retail? second is, even if you get the rights, there are so many parties that own a piece of it, that it makes the game poison to most publishers as they're not keen on sharing the wealth. strangely enough, the easy part is actually building the game itself... (Ken Levine)
Sorry for the off topic.
At least Ion Storm redeemed themselves with Deus Ex and hopefully Deus Ex 2 for Daikatana...

Yeah, ive played and clocked it on all modes now. It still hooks me in, even tho i know whats gonna happen (but thats what i thinks gonna happen, and it usually doesnt). I first got the 2 level demo with a PCPP mag, and ever since that, i was searching for deus ex. I finnaly found Deus Ex Game Of the Year Edition at the warehouse for $50 last year. Im never gonna sell it.
And yes, i am looking forward to Deus Ex 2, but that HUD looks awful (in the screenshot on page 1), and it takes up most of the screen (and it looks like those shots were taken at around 600x400 or 800x600 res).
