Insane, and absolutely awsome.

I wonder what thet chip does on air or water cooling.

Damn.. thats about a 66% overclock...

That's nuts.... Me wants one :D

Very cool

I want one too! :D

They reckon it's 1 second faster than a P4 @ 4.6Ghz in super PI too

nice. it looks very promising... some were wondering if AMD would pull off a shift to a different core without compromising yields. looks good so far :D

btw, they've had tbreds (http://www.vr-zone.com/guides/AMD/TBred/) up nearly that high too (3.38GHz)...

hmm, could we see 3GHz on air cooling quite soon from AMD (not PR, real Hz)

cause that would rock,

Grrr!!

****ing  ... that's one hell of an overclock ... wish it was mine :).

errr

its liquid nitro....

so it dont really count... :D

Errr, yes it does , at the end of the day its still a method of cooling .. the same as air/vapo etc.

well it counts in the the world of LN2, which really is a world entirely of it's own.

any oc is an oc i reckons. But then again, there is the oc for stability and oc for pure speed.

Lets move to siberia, we could get -40 on AIR!!!

nah...means jack..were interested in an oc that we can perform and run evryday and do things like play bf for hrs without crashing to desk....this nitro clock is like placing men on the moon ..nice ...but doesnt really effect us down here on earth

If its stable at that mhz on LN2, then its likely anyone can overclock the same chip to as high as they want within their temp comfort and it will be stable.

Of course it all depends on other factors but its very promising

Yes but if 3.5GHz is achievable on LN2, then 3.0 is probably achievable on air with that CPU. A 3 GHz Barton with rip the pants off even a 4 GHz P4.

Anyone know much about those LN cooling systems. Wonder if its possible to do it here in NZ.

I'm still stuck at the 3.7Ghz barrier with mine, but its all down to the HD at the moment.. Seems the large cache on the WD drive don't like the rest of the machine being clocked.. While the system runs stable at 50C the drive starts accumulating data errors.. Have to run the old disk doctor afterwards.

But am determined to get to 4Ghz on water cooling :)

Haven't heard of anyone doing LN in New Zealand.. you might want to consider something like http://www.vapochill.com/ or DIY phase change cooling.

I seem to be mostly fine with water cooling. Currently the machine is sitting at 37C cpu temp, 27C mobo temp..

One of the things I have noticed tho, is that since the water sits at room temp it often ends up warming the CPU (as its doin now) rather than cooling it..

Am hoping during the winter that things will drop a bit when the room temp sits a lot lower..

What sort of watercooling setup are you running Tiggerz?

Another Barton overclocking to 3 GHz on prometia cooling.

This time with heaps of benchies, so it must be quite stable.

Ln2 has been done in this country a few times, www.octools.com

Its not that difffcult to do, even i did it to a degree :P if you in welly you can buy it in an unsealed containter for $6/L out at seaview
