I've got two computers here. One running XP and another running what ever the heck I have on it at the moment (Madrake9 currently).

I've got ICS going. If I have the second rig running XP it can browse the web and do everything with no problems. When it's running mandrake/redhat/anythingelse it doesn't work. I can successfully ping websites so there is some DNS stuff happening somewhere. Fire up a browser and it just doesn't work. I've tried running a proxy on the XP box then telling the browser to use that and it works fine. Though it will be annoying trying to configure everything to use that proxy.

Yes I do realise I should be using the linux box to connect directly

btw, if you can't get it working by manually using the suggested settings in that article, there are a number of other ICS articles that might offer additional info.

Pity the ICS wizard (on the XP CD) doesn't support lunix, its incredibly easy to get working for windows boxes.

you could run the xp box through the lunix one, mandrake has a cute little wizard that'll set it up, if you run dhcp from it as well internet explorer should configure itself automatically.

Yeah, it's just with my lunix knowledge it's better the other way.

Plus it'll probably be running something else next week.

hmmmm I see where I went wrong now.

I hadn't ticked the "is running on internet gateway" box in my firewall. (Kerio)
