I was looking @ AnandTech's data base this morning and came across this article:

December '97 3D Video Accelerator Comparison (http://www.anandtech.com/printarticle.html?i=36)

Look @ the Q2 performance. Geez, we sure advanced a lot from that time.

hell yes the voodoo 2 totally annihilated the competition in 3d. makes me proud to own a 3dfx Voodoo 3 3000. although the tnt2 was better in many ways, i'd never swap my V3 pci for a tnt2 pci.

my first graphics card was an orchid righteous 3d 4mb Voodoo 1. it was awesome to try all your games in "3d mode". the improvement was amazing. Voodoo's 0wn3d j00!!!
it's SUCH A DAM SHAME that nvidia shut them down :( :( :( :(

My 4 meg Diamond Monster 3D owned.
Diamond had the fastest drivers @ the time, so the orchard owners cheated and used diamonds drivers :p
Still, i lol @ their use of a k6-233
A p200MMX woulda owned it.
Ahh, the good old days :D

My first 3d card was a TNT2 original PCI, took it back the next day and got a Geforce 2 MX when I realized I had a AGP slot

I remember my Orchid Righteous Voodoo 1 cost me nearly a week’s wages but it was worth every penny after playing Quake 2 in software mode and then getting a mind blowing 25fps with the Voodoo 1. Now me GF4 4200 spits out 500 fps in Quake 2 so yeah things have certainly moved ahead. I still have demos and screenshots of all our Quake 2 clan games from 1997/98. I was always the guy in the clan who had to record everything :D

the fastest native glide card in existance! (i say native cos a GF4 Ti4600 could probably beat it with a glide wrapper :()

i must say i do envy you silver, that card is a piece of history, even if it does only perform a little faster than a GF2 MX400 :p.

u run any benchies on it? oh thats right, it wont fit in your computer, lol! :p

/edit: i withdraw my comment on V5's performing like MX's, actually they perform like Geforce DDR's, and come close to a GF2 GTS

It does fit in my computer.
Just had to do some serious rerouting and folding of IDE cables.
*mutters about stupid placement of IDE headers on the Soltek SL75-KAV*
And its running just fine.
Runs everything sweet, cept for MOHAA and JK2.
*shrugs*
This is better than an m64 in the meantime between cards ;)
Im having trouble getting it to run in 32bit colour for some benchmarks....
The 16 bit looks awesome tho
*shrugs*
Flight sims run incredibly on it.
FS2002 is a dream, even compared to my old GF2 Ti
*shrugs*
Doesn't mind a 145fsb either :D
The fans on it are geting annoying>
I've actually started turning my pc off @ nights now.
Yes, my fans are getting to me :p
But yeh, back on track.
UT is a dream.
The FSAA is OMFG SWEEEEEEEEEET
Now, back to business

All the THINK competitors rejoice.
Pity I've got a celeron, won't make much difference to me.

ROFL @ this:

"By the time ATI finalizes their OpenGL ICD drivers you can probably expect frame rates in the 10 - 15 fps range which isn't bad at all" :p

those would have been the days of my cyrix p150+ with a s3 trio 64v+ card 2mb i think. :D
